Grand Mayan Puerto Penasco
Nicely done, very safe, but... There are no Grand Mayan units built yet. The smaller units are well appointed, except the kitchens. Don't plan on making much more than toast and coffee.
The beach is beautiful, although too cold for swimming this time of year. The outdoor pool is great for reading. The pool is not heated, so not an option.
The restaurants and spa are very nice, good service, reasonable prices.
Town is a good 30 minute drive.
Within 2 years, the new airport will be functional and there will be much more here. I am looking forward to it.

Did you drive down from California? Is it safe to drive down? Are you a Mayan Palace owner? Were the rooms nice/ DId you have any problems with the border? Is the pool going to be heated? Thank you very much

We drove from Arizona, very safe and easy, unless you are Mexican. They don't stop Anglos but they do stop Mexicanos. Unfair, but true.
Yes wee are Mayan Palace owners, the pool doesn't have any kind of heater system (bring a wetsuit this time of year!) The rooms are no Grand Mayan level, but very nice.
There is an indoor pool, mostly kids in it. No hot tub or jaccuzi. Spa is limited but pleasant.

Thank you so much for your replies. I really appreciate the info. We are Mayan Palace owners too, but have yet to use ours because we only have a one bedroom, sleeps 2 adults and 2 children. Our home site is Puerto Penasco, and we bought because flights would be cheaper from Canada to US, then drive down to MExico. We are now thinking of selling it because we have been unable to use it.
