Using PayPal for transactions
If you are considering using PayPal for your transaction, please note: PayPal does not protect you when you purchase or rent a timeshare, they only protect for the purchase of "tangible items". Please research their dispute rules before using them for your timeshare rental or sale transaction. It appears, in this case, any disputes fall back to the credit card you have registered with PayPal for your transaction.
See the excerpt below from PayPal's BUYER PROTECTION POLICY:
Item #3: ELIGIBILITY: ---------------------------- b3. The item sold in the listing must be a tangible, physical item or good which can be shipped. All other items are ineligible for PayPal Buyer Protection coverage, including but not limited to intangible goods, services, quasi-cash, gift certificates, and downloadable or streaming content. Motor vehicles (including cars, motorcycles, boats, and planes), and Live Auctions will not be covered. In addition, items prohibited in the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy are ineligible for coverage. If an item does not meet the requirements in this section 3.b.3, it is ineligible for PayPal Buyer Protection coverage, even if the listing states otherwise.

Using an escrow service is the best way. We have recently added information on the pros and cons of methods of handling transactions, [ur]http://www.redweek.com/help/payment-method-comparison This should give you some ideas of what would work best in your situation.
