Renting and Exchanged Week
I want to rent a week from someone on Redweek who doesn't own at the resort but owns elsewhere and will be exchanging for the week. I have read this isn't o.k. through RCI, but it is a Marriott Resort posted through Redweek. The exchanger has told me they will give us a guest certificate with the reservation number on it. I was told the week is held under Interval International, which I don't know what that is, and they will add my name once the reservation is complete.
I am new to Redweek in general so not sure how you go about paying someone anyway for the rental so any information on what is "normal" vs. what is suggested above would be greatly appreciated and whether or not it all seems to be acceptable. Thanks!

Rendering no judgement here, I can still tell you this much with certainty:
1. It is against both RCI and II rules of membership to rent out for profit any week obtained by "exchange". Period. Where that week might then later get advertised for (improper) rental is irrelevant.
2. A person attempting to rent out a week which they obtained by exchange through either RCI or II might, if subsequently discovered by the exchange company, have their II or RCI membership terminated.
3. Worst of all, if you rent an exchanged week from someone and that rental is subsequently discovered by RCI or II at or before check-in, in addtion to #2. mentioned above the reservation involved can simply be outright cancelled by the exchange company, leaving you with no place to stay and then also having to chase after the "landlord" for the money which you paid them for the prohibited rental (....good luck with that).

Interval International is an exchange company, just like RCI, except smaller. And just like RCI, as previously mentioned, II prohibits the rental for profit of an exchanged week. Period. Yes, the person can get a guest certificate with your name on it --- by concealing from II the fact that they are conducting a prohibited rental. If this is something which they do with any frequency, the exchange company is likely already "watching" their account.
You and the exchanger who is attempting to improperly rent out an exchange for profit MIGHT get away with it (yes, it happens...), but my own recommendation would be to instead look for a more legitimate, risk free rental from someone who actually OWNS what they are renting out to you and is prepared to PROVE that fact to you. Otherwise, as itemized above, there are risks involved for both you and the person attempting to improperly rent out an exchanged week, in clear violation of II rules and terms and conditions of membership. Ultimately, it's your decision to make --- and your risk to take...

Not necessarily more eloquently, Mike --- just more long winded! You boiled it right down to the essence.
