Special assessment after disturbing announcement from Sanibel Beach Club

Nov 15, 2008

Our recent resort newsletter arrived late, and uncharacteristically in an envelope, with a cryptic article on the front stating that the longtime resort manager and her lawn maintainance husband had to be terminated in August "for cause" that was "serious", but that could not be divulged. Then we are assesed $200 per unit week for new sliding glass doors. Since there are only 32 units at our resort, we thought this was rather steep. Is it possible we are paying for something else here? What are our recourses? Can we ask for more info on the manager's termination and/or an exact accounting on the doors?

Surely the HOA is involved in this? You speak of a manager ..... normally the HOA manages or hires a manager after a resort is sold out. I would definitely seek further information from the resort's HOA concerning this matter .... after all, you're an owner and you deserve to not be in the dark about the mismanagement of your resort.

I would also hope that the special assessment is not to pay off legal fees concerning the previous management.
