Hi - I have been approached by the company buyatimeshire.com, and wondered if anyone had any dealing with them selling on their behalf?

Are they supposedly buying your timeshare or selling your timeshare? Anyway, if they ask for any sort of upfront fee then run as fast as you can the other way.

I am looking to sell, and he has asked from $599 upfront. Says they are No 1, and lots of documents and links to prove it, although it doesn't mean much to me. I just wondered if anybody had actually dealt with them.

Most likely they will take your $599, then put a one line listing on their website, then you hope someone actually comes across their website when looking for a TS to buy. You can list it yourself on various websites for free or minimal cost.

IMHO they are likely "No 1" at spreading "No 2" ;-}

What are some websites where you can list your own timeshare for sale?

I had mixed success with the following Redweek, tug2.net (go the the TUG marketplace), and vacationtimesharerentals.com. There is also myresortnetwork.com, bidshares, and craigslist (though I hear that the last two produces more spam than anything) Some are free and some have a small fee.

Good Luck

The subject of selling a timeshare has been discussed many times in these forums. A "search" on the subject will likely reveal dozens of posts for your review.

Free options include Bidshares, Craigslist, TUG (TUG membership is required first, however), Vacationtimesharerentals.com (it's not just rentals listed there). Ads for a fee of less than $50 per year include RedWeek and MyResortNetwork. There is always eBay too, but with 1,100+ other timeshares on eBay right now, one more added listing can easily just get lost amidst all of the other clutter. Personally, I don't have much use for eBay, but that's just my opinion.

Unfortunately, this is the worst possible economic climate in which to be selling a timeshare. Hundreds of timeshares are listed on eBay right now for one dollar --- many such listings close with NO bids.

In any event, you can advertise on your own and reach every potential buyer on Planet Earth with a little personal effort and a TOTAL expenditure of about $100 or so "out of pocket". Paying ANY useless, parasitic upfront fee company hundreds of dollars to place a worthless listing on an obscure web site (which no one takes seriously) is exactly as productive as putting a half dozen crisp, one hundred dollar bills right through a shredder. That's not a personal opinion --- it's a fact which has been clearly and repeatedly established over many years now. Advertise wisely; don't line the pockets of thieves who have no ability, no interest and no intentions of actually helping to sell your timeshare.

Note: Please do not post ads in the timeshare forums. If you want to add a timeshare posting, go here.
