Timeshare Companies

Resort Condos Plus - anyone?

Oct 02, 2009

All of a sudden the prospective buyer will back out or he can't get financing AFTER you pay for closing .... this is classic as to how they do business, however thanks to the internet and timeshare blogs the word is getting out about these scammers.

Afer reading all the above, contacting the Houston BBB and asking for an independent Escrow company, I believe that any thing said above that was positive about this company was posted by someone from the company. Just hang up on them when they call. Maybe that will discourage them.

Thank you to all who have posted your concerns and problems about this company. You just saved me $2050 today. I looked them up on the BBB, but there was not enough information to tell if the poor rating was due to the "buyer" not liking their timeshare after purchase or if it was because of the up front legal fees. Apparently there is no purchase based on what you have told me and the $2050 fee is bogus. Thanks!

Scam Scam Scam Believe it. Read the other posts here and notice the similarites. No sale, no buyer, no answers, no results, no refunds. Unprofessional sales reps insulting you when you demand answers. So called managers, supervisors, customer service reps, Sr. Executives, and on and on all with the same bs but no results. Consider this. Companies like this designed from the top down to get your money using any means possible. Phone reps hired off the street without an application or backround check working a carefully written script with a variable fee determined by the sales rep's or closer's ego. Tell them you have half of what they're asking on you credit card and I'll bet the price drops. Most only work a few days because it's all commission paid under the table. Everyone in the office, or apartment, is using an alias, with a made up title and a temporary internet phone account with an area code from Boise, Idaho. who would ever think of getting scammed from Boise, or Ft Collins, or Lincoln, Nebraska? These people can say or promise anything because they have absolutely nothing to lose but your sale. And if you ever get to the point of demanding answers they are rude and ugly to you because they already have your money and you don't even know what state they are really in or what their real name is. Think about, it fits most of the complaints here. Who do you complain to?? Customer service? That guy just has a private office in the bathroom. They stand around the back door during cigarette break laughing at each other's biggest conquest of the day. Who they insulted the most and still took their money. The better business bureau? In what city or state? If you live in Alabama and think the company is in California but they are really in New York who is going to take the time to find out who and where the bad guys are. When things get bad for the business and income is down, they just change the business name, change the employee names, change the internet phone numbers to Lexington, KY and probably stay in the same apartment, er office, in New York City without missing a day of scamming. The only way to protect yourself is to listen to that little voice in your head and not give up your hard earned money. Ask lots and lots of questions and demand sensible answers. Take notes, record all the calls! Tell them that up front and see how that works out. Research how long the phone numbers have been active and the website too. Can you call them back after hours? Does the website list the other people in business and their phone numbers? Can they send or fax you a business card with their name on it? Or any of the management's names? I'll bet the fax machine isn't working at that moment. Ask for mail from their location to verify the postmark. How about verifing the companies officers and phyisical address. Heck, ask for directions to their office and tell them you'll come down to run your credit card in person. I'll bet they can't answer any questions about the city they say they live in. Probably just moved their or something. DEMAND your own escrow service if you're still not convinced but don't give up your money first on promises. One last thing to consider. If you are still not convinced, consider having all your personal info and credit card number floating around forever on a lead sheet copied a thousand times and passed around among the Sr Executives, customer service reps, account specialists, etc. Or maybe it will go in the shreader after the quick and profitable of your time share. hey, it could happen. Call me what you will but the proof is in the results. Tell them you'll be happy to pay their made up, variable fee at closing from your escrow account because their aren't any refunds from this company.

Exposing scam companies on this site and on the TUG Forum (www.tugbbs.com) is the best way to put these companies out of business.

I was scammed out of 1300 from Resort Condos Plus. A guy named Scott Michaels. He seemed so friendly at first and said he had a qualified buyer who wanted my timeshare because a friend of the family's had a timeshare at my resort for the same week. I agreed to the sale. I was promised a closing in 45 days. It has been now 5 or 6 months and the guy has dissappeared. His number is 817-945-3771. I did some more research on this scam artist and other numbers i found were 954-565-5107 and 954-326-6044... Resort Condos plus is a scam!!!!!!

I once again contacted rcp and left a very rude message. I used all the names of different agents that people had put in thier blogs and informed them that I was going to the Att.. General and the real estate comm. I did both of those today, I earge all of you to do the same. I also included this site for the Att. Genersl to lok at. I think I have them at rcp nervious, called them today and asked for the proper spelling of a few names so I could add them to my report. I was told that the request for my money back has been submitted to the hed guy....Ya right. holding my breath.. NOT LOL

I have a plan to call rcp everyday and leave them messages sense they never seem to be in the office. Please write to the Attorney General of texas or Fl. and let them know. The real estate commision should also be contacted.. Their web address is in one of my past blogs...Happy Hunting:)

After they get your upfront fee, all calls will go to voicemail only and they don't return voicemail calls.

So I got a call from my parents while I was out of town stating they'd sold their timeshare for $12000. I was skeptical that anyone would even pay that right now, but was happy for them...until I started asking questions. I asked them if they paid anything up front, and they said yes, we had to pay the $2000 commission up front. Oh man, I knew it was a scam right then. So here's how they got taken... Michael Dean called them saying he was a mortgage broker that dealt with Resort Condos Plus.com. He had a prequalified buyer for them and they wanted to pay the $12k they were asking from some other listing they'd put in. (This would be their 4th). My parents so wanted to believe him, that they ignored all the red flags. To really make this sound good, Michael had the interested party "Rick and Gina Thompson" out of South Lake Tahoe call my parents and ask a few questions. My dad got their phone number and now of course we only get an answering machine. It seems so real, but I read someone else had this Michael Dean do the same thing, have the buyers call and ask questions. The fact that they tell you to say "no" to the question "were you promised there was a buyer" on the recorded phone conversation gets them off the hook when you try to say they promised a buyer. They have you on a recorded message that they haven't promised you anything. This is just an advertising group that will list your timeshare for $2000. If you read the fine print at the bottom of the contract, it states that they are just an advertising agency and not a sales company. It also says they have sold zero (0) timeshares. I called the Texas Atty General Consumer affairs office, and they said there are 34 claims filed in the past 2 years. They are also called Global Resort Condos as well. My parent's contract had a mailing address in Kansas, but the sales guy is in Texas.

Has anyone ever gotten a sale out of these people? Has anyone ever gotten their money back through the company? I submitted within 7 days a cancellation via email, and now sending via registered mail a formal written cancellation. I'm pretty sure they won't send the money back, so my next step is to have my parents dispute through their Visa, and then I'm filing with the Texas Atty General. It is so frustrating that they prey on elderly people, and others that can't afford this. How do they sleep at night?

Thanks to you all for posting your experiences. It's been helpful, and I only wish my parents had told be about RCP BEFORE they sent their credit card info in, because I found all of your posts within about 2 minutes of checking.

It's funny (not really) because I recently had a man call me Brian (can't remember his last name)he had left me a message saying that "He" was interested in my timeshare. So I called him back, he didn't tell me the company he was working for at first, until I asked him. When he said RCP I said "oh no here we go again" since I had someone call me before and soon after found out all the fraud they were doing by taking people's money, I let him tell me the same story you and many other's just mentioned and asked him (as if I didn't know) "Is there an upfront fee?" He said yes we will only charge you $1,200 I said I didn't have the money and he was KIND enough to consider me and just taking half. I simply said " Well I don't see how I can pay you, being that I don't have a credit card to use nor the money" He said "Thank you for being upfront with me goodbye" If only they were "upfront" with us.

DON'T FALL FOR THEIR SCAMS, I FORTUNATELY HAVEN'T LOST MONEY TO THESE CRETINS AND HOPE NO ONE ELSE FALLS FOR THEM. THEY TELL EVERYONE THE SAME STORY AND ARE QUICK TO LIE AND CHEAT YOU OUT OF YOUR MONEY. I'D RATHER GO BANKRUPT AND LOSE THE TS!

I turned them into the real estate board and got a letter yesterday from them that there is going to be a file opened on them and that I would be hearing from them soon. funny...I have been calling everyday hounding them (rcp) asking for my money back. I told them that I didnt want to have anything to do with them and cot a call from Maris Fernandaz telling me that all the paper work has been submitted and that they were going to refund my money but they are hving problems with some computer crap and that it would take up to 3 weeks and if I dont hear anything in 3 weeks to give her a call. Holding my breath and turning blue.......good luck. Keep hounding them.

Has anyone gotten their money refunded by RCP? How about from their credit cards? Has anyone actually gotten money from a sale?

Thanks.
