The latest issue of AARP Bulletin (July 2010) has an article titled "Time-Share Trickery" and highlights a couple in Virginia in their late seventies who no longer use their timeshare and in an effort to sell have fallen victim twice to upfront scams one for $400 and the second for $500. The article gives several tips to those unable to sell their timeshares but especially warns older Americans not to pay upfront fees. One of the tips suggest they list their week for sale on Redweek.com. (Good advice in my opinion as I was able to sell two unwanted timeshares via Redweek listings).
