Newbie here - looking to try out an all-inclusive timeshare

Hello All! I am a newbie to this board. My husband and I are looking to possibly buy a timeshare. We've been told that there are deals out there where you can stay at one dirt cheap and all you need to do is listen to the 90 minute presentation. I also understand that there are all inclusive deals out there too. Can anyone please provide me with some advice? If we are going to potentially buy into this we need to make sure that where we go is family friendly (we have 2 little girls who are 4 and 7) Also since we are new to this if anyone can provide us with what NOT to do and what scams to look for, I'd appreciate it. Frankly, my advice would be to NOT even consider buying at this time. Instead, you can rent timeshare weeks where / when you might want to go, without the ownership obligations of annual maintenance fees. Also, with young children, your vacation "windows" will be limited and will change with time (i.e., become even MORE limited), making the constraints of reservation and scheduling increasingly difficult.

As far as "all inclusive" resorts go, they are mostly in Mexico. You certainly won't be seeing any offers for "cheap stays" at ANY all-inclusives (unless you pay the full "inclusives" portion yourself). Moreover, with young children, I'm betting that Mexico is not high on your destination list to begin with anyhow --- particularly lately.

There are very few (if any) "dirt cheap" deals anymore ---in this economy those days are mostly gone. Currently, all you should reasonably expect is some low value gifts and vouchers for enduring the high pressure sales presentation on site. Since buying retail from a developer would be foolish anyhow, the little trinkets, coupons, vouchers, etc. are not even worth your time (in my opinion, anyhow).

Just my personal thoughts; I hope this helps in some way.

my wife and l have been to several All inclusive resorts in mexico, they offer a mix of family friendly type destinations, and also some adult only "realparty" detinations. You may get very deluxe accomidations and first class 24/7 activities,you will pay a perdiem for the alinclusive package, which is an invitation to really indulge yourself in pretty fine eating and drinking 24/7,much like a cruiseship without the formal night. lose a fewpounds before your vacation,andthen go and enjoy.

You may also get some unwelcome real life exposure to the drug related murders and violence currently ongoing and in full swing these days in Mexico.

Personally, I wouldn't even CONSIDER Mexico as a destination if I (...like the OP...) had 4 and 7 year old children to consider, but as my title openly acknowledges --- "to each his / her own".

l believe my earlier message may have been cutoff, the 5star resort areas in Mexico are safe. the "the violence" is along the borders and in areas were the the drugs are grown and processed. most of baja is too arid and isolated from the mainland. Go and enjoy, you cannot let constant fear rule your life.

Hello! Don't buy timeshare through Villa Prefered Group. They have timeshare through Villa Del Palmar & Villa Del Arco in Cabo & Cancun. They will take your money & you won't find a week to use. We made the mistake of paying $3500 for a "trial membership" and when I called to book the resort they couldn't find my info! Luckily I paid with my credit card and my credit card company was able to refund my money. Never use cash or check because you'll never see it again. Good website to check out is ripoffreport.com There may be decent companies out there but I would do some research first! Good luck!

dirt cheap, is exactly what the sales sharks are looking for. Most of the beach resorts in Mexico or the Caribbean are all inclusive. " great idea" listen to the sales pitch,get all the freebies, but when the super closer,deal maker closes in, tell them you are on parole after years of prison and have very bad credit. that should scare them off. Just being offensive,obnoxious will not do the job. good luck:
