Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares

Do I have to be a Redweek member to respond to a timeshare rental?

May 19, 2011

Hi Folks, Can someone explain the process of responding to a timeshare rental. Do I have to sign up and pay the fee?

When the posting states to "Contact Owner" the site only wants my credit card info along with name and address. I wanted to ask the owner a specific question but I do not see a way of doing that.

Appreciate if someone can explain the process.

To respond to any RedWeek ads yes, you must first be (i.e., pay to become) a RedWeek member. You can SEE the ads without membership, but you cannot RESPOND to any ads without first becoming a RedWeek member.

Personally, I like this feature, since it tends to discourage those who are really just "kicking the tires" anyhow from wasting the time of the advertiser. Those who are sincere and genuinely interested are unlikely to balk at a $15 membership cost.

I actually paid the money to join, and contacted several owners, all of whom told me their timeshares were rented although they had them listed as available. What really bothered me was the fact that some of them were still listed as available a week after they had contacted me and told me they were not available. If I had known they were not available, I would not have paid $15 for a membership in the first place.

Hi je82,

We offer a refund of your membership fee within the first 30 days of purchase if you aren't able to work out a transaction with any of the owners. If there aren't any other postings you are interested please let us know at support@redweek.com and we'll refund your $14.99 fee.

Thanks, Marty

Marty did not specifically mention (but it is nonetheless true) that your $14.99 membership is good for a FULL YEAR from the date you join. Personally (and, for the record, I do NOT have ANY affiliation of any kind with RedWeek other than as a paying member) I think that the $1.25 per month is money well spent.
