Wyndham VIP Status Does Not Transfer

According to Wyndham's financial services, they will not honor any VIP status in any transfer of points that they do not sell themselves. If purchasing directly from anyone other than the Wyndham salespeople, do not expect to get the same status as the person you are buying from, even if you purchase the minimum number of points to qualify for VIP status. Wyndham will honor the transfer of points with a $299 transfer fee, but they will NOT transfer the VIP status. What a bummer!

If the points are willed, the VIP benefits transfer, just not if they are sold, but what some people do, is buy to a certain VIP level, say VIP (300,000), from Wyndham, then they go buy a bunch of resale points and the resale points operate like VIP points; they just don't count towards achieving a higher VIP level.
