I have converted my timeshare to RCI point, I am still paying the maintenance fee for my resort and the RCI membership, and I am wondering if any one have the experience on how to get rid of these points and deed since I am not able to travel much nowaday with limited retire money. I have started to post on redweek to sell them. But I don't know if I will get any reply yet.

Since you signed a legally binding contract to buy this then you are legally responsible for yearly maintenance fees. The best you can do is offer your points for free in Redweek's Bargain Basement.

What do you mean by "The best you can do is offer your points for free in Redweek's Bargain Basement."? That means I paid the yearly maintenance fees and let some one to travel free every year?

You asked, "how to get rid of these RCI points?" ..... you can try to sell your points, however I have no idea what RCI points are worth in today's resale market or you can give them away in Redweek's Bargain Basement if you simply want out.

Why are people taking chances by trying selling their timeshares for $1. Can't they just be turned back over to the company? Shell Vacations told me that there is n o charge to do that provided all my maintenance fees are up to date.

Some resorts and timeshare companies (you say Shell Vacations) will take deedbacks .... the majority do not. You cannot force a resort or timeshare company to take a deedback if that is not their policy. If deedbacks were the norm then you wouldn't see all the free and $1 timeshares.

On another note, if all resorts and timeshare companies took deedbacks then those entities would implode in a very short time as they would have no source for maintenance fees coming in and the resorts would deteriorate rapidly. There are those people that are truly in a bad financial situation but then there are those that are not financially strapped and they just want to unload their timeshares and the maintenance fees that go along with timeshare ownership. This is the main reason that most won't accept deedbacks.

I talked to my home resort, they will take the deed back for free but I will need to pay $111 transfer fee and get out of the deed and the maintainenace fee. I guess I will have a way out somehow if no one like to take over the RCI point.

If you're really desperate and committed to relieving yourself of the ownership obligations, then this offer sounds like a plausible one.
