Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares

Are all timeshare presentations high pressure?

Apr 12, 2013

I have been "invited" to six or seven timeshare presentations in the last four(ish) years. I went to all of them after I haggled them down to an almost free weekend (if they were not free before).

All of them have been such high pressure, must-sell/must-buy, affairs that I get immediately turned off. I've been to Festiva owned placed, Wyhndam, Williamsburg, etc, etc. None of them were even remotely what they were advertised to be. None of the presentations were "90 minutes" unless "90 minutes" has been redefined into 6 hours.

I'm pretty stubborn so I'm not going to buy anything like that without doing the proper digging.

That brings me to my question: Are there any places that offer a more relaxed sales atmosphere? I wouldn't mind going on a couple more cheap weekend vaycays as long as I'm not too hassled.

Thanks all.

Most timeshare presentations are high pressure .... if they don't sell you the first time then they send in another member of the sales group to try to influence you ..... this can go on for many hours.

Bottom line, if you go to presentations for the freebies then you'll have to put up with the high pressure sales spiel.

Thanks doll.

The next one I go to I'm going to see if I can walk out at the 90 minute mark and see how that goes since most places advertise the same 90 minute length.

What's the worst they can do? They can't make me buy anything.

Thanks again!

My wife dragged me along one time when we were on vacation so she could get a $ 100.00 gift card. We had breakfast on them and listened to their presentation for 90 minutes. After the 90 minutes we questioned them about the drawbacks of timeshare ownership and all the negative aspects discussed on these threads. They seemed to get the idea that we were educated in timeshare ownership. They soon brought in their next level closer and he saw that we knew all about their sales pitches. They promptly gave us her gift card before we were able to be overheard by the other potential victims in the room.

I told my wife that wasn't too bad. A free breakfast and $ 100.00 for 90 minutes but I would rather not be bothered in the future when I'm on vacation.
