What if your "owner" is not responding

Jun 01, 2013

I have left several messages for two owners of a week at the Marriott Ko'Olina and neither is responding. Finally, the one lady removed her posting, thankfully. But the other remains and I am not sure what to think of the no response! Has anyone experienced requesting to rent and getting no response from the owner? I am new to Redweek and wondering if this is normal practice. I am 3 weeks away from needing the week. I am an owner with Marriott Vacation Club, so I think I will check with them to verify that this owner actually has the unit scheduled, but I am getting so frustrated. What do you think?

I think you're on the right track by contacting Marriott to verify that the person posting the ad is the owner. Some people will skirt the rules by renting an exchange which is against rules and regulations.

I would give the (alleged) owner a certain amount of time to respond then move on if they haven't.

It may be that the owner is away and not checking emails or that the messages are going into a spam filter. It is also possible the renter for whatever reason doesn't think you are a legitimate person so is ignoring you. It is a shame that the person is not responding and may miss an opportunity to rent. I have also heard of people who leave up ads after a unit has rented (because they already paid for 6 months of ad time) and are just trying to gauge interest for the next time they rent.
