buying time share

Is there a credit check when buying timeshare. If I buy a time share for example : cost $99 maintenance fee is $1000. How would I pay just the $99 cost or also the $1000 up front. And are there any more fees?

Robert-

There would not be a credit check unless you are taking out a loan to pay for the timeshare. The buyer typically pays the closing costs and transfer fees. This amount will vary, but you could check with the resort to see how much they charge for transferring the timeshare. If the owner has not paid the maintenance fee for the current year, then you would need to pay it at the closing. Otherwise, maintenance fees are typically due at the beginning of each year.
