Why should I rent with RedWeek?

Jun 06, 2025

We own an equivalent of 14 weeks of timeshare at two different resorts. All RedWeek does is help us offset our dues, however with the cost of posting a rental so high I will not be using RedWeek.com anymore and want others to know about all the excessive fees involved.

$ 49.99 Add 6 months $ 99.00 Success fee $ 50.00 Resort fee ( most resorts charge a guest authorization fee) $ 50.00 eBay or CC processing fee Who is going to pay approximately $250.00 for someone else's vacation. It's no longer financially feasible to rent with RedWeek.com Renters also pay 6% on top of rental price.

People just won't be able to use RedWeek anymore. So sorry...

I noticed that you have posted the exact same complaint in 3 different forums here, objecting to RedWeek costs, which is certainly your prerogative. While I am certainly not seeking to argue with you, I do have a few observations / questions.

First, if a resort charges a “$50.00 resort fee” (as some certainly do), that cost has nothing to do with RedWeek. The resort itself charges and ultimately receives that fee, regardless of how a guest comes to be there, so you cannot blame RedWeek for collecting a mandatory fee which is imposed by (and ultimately received by) the resort itself, not by RedWeek.

Second, I do not understand your reference to a “$50.00 eBay or CC processing fee”. What on earth does eBay have to do with timeshare rentals conducted via RedWeek??? Is there actually a $50 credit card charge to the advertiser and / or to the tenant in all RedWeek rental transactions?

I very rarely rent out any of my owned timeshare weeks, but I am aware of RedWeek policy changes and cost increases since RedWeek was acquired by Arrivia. I am trying to better understand your math, puzzling claims and statements. That being said, I certainly do agree that the $99 “success fee” is plainly just a completely unnecessary and gratuitous “money grab” by RedWeek.

In the end, it’s only the TOTAL cost that a renting tenant cares about, regardless of the advertising venue and irrespective of costs that may be incurred by an advertising owner. People seeking to rent a timeshare week will consider and compare the bottom line cost for renting a week, no matter where the timeshare owner chooses to advertise and without any concern for (or any interest in) whatever costs that the advertising owner must incur — that’s quite simply not a tenant’s concern or problem.

Let’s be honest; the marketplace itself ultimately determines the "right" total cost for a timeshare rental. Some resorts rent out weeks for their owners (for a commission, of course). That resort rental figure is a pretty good (top price) benchmark for renters to use for comparison with private rentals for the same time period and same unit type at the same property. No one in their right mind is ever going to knowingly pay an unknown stranger / private owner more money than a resort charges to rent the exact same thing. My advice is to just add your RedWeek costs to accomplish the net rental price that you seek, if it still keeps you competitive (i.e., still well below resort-direct rental costs).

Anyway, good luck with your rentals, wherever and however you decide to advertise. I certainly don't envy you having to deal with the "equivalent of 14 weeks of timeshare" (whatever that means --- lots of points in some unspecified timeshare points system, perhaps?). That's certainly far more expense and far more headache than I would personally ever want to have to deal with.
