Struggling To Get Renters in 2026: What can I do?

May 19, 2026

I posted my first timeshare rental posting at the end of last year, several months in advance. Though the date was after a major holiday, I still figured that the time was a good time for vacations and I made sure that the price wasn't over the top but still reasonable. I had hoped that someone would gain some interest at least a month or so from the check in date. But now the date is getting much closer and I haven't received any inquires. I've already lowered the price several times, but I still don't get anything. I'm worried that no one will rent out my timeshare.

Based on the other listings for the same resort, I'm starting to think that this is a problem others are currently facing. No one is renting the rooms. The only posting that successfully got a renter put the price for the same type of room for only $100/day, which is extremely low compared to everyone else! I'm hoping that's not the only way to get a renter this year, but considering the current state of the economy, it's sadly understandable why the usual listings aren't getting picked.

I understand that there are many factors contributing to why it seems that there aren't many people renting right now. I was hoping someone could provide advice for what I should do? I only have over a week left before my listed timeshare spot is supposed to be used. Is this still salvageable or should I cut my loses and list it for a significantly lower price or cancel it? Any advice is welcome, though I'm admittedly leaning towards the idea of just canceling it at this point and try to make another reservation for a later date.

Thanks

Do you mine me asking what type of unit, date, and location? I just posted mind but the rental falls the first week of August. This is my first time using this site.

I don't mind. My first listing unfortunately expired but I have another listing for the same unit that's months away. It's a 2 bedroom unit that can accommodate 6 people and it's a week stay at the Hilton Grand Parc Soleil resort. If you were to look at the listings page for that resort, most listings are from about $250-414/per night but the one that got rented had their listing at $100/per night.

It seems to me that there are many factors that need to be considered now when trying to get renters for these timeshares since many of them aren't getting picked up now. It's a shame; I hope this changes as the summer season officially starts.
