Ocean Club was the first Marriott Vacation Club property. As grand as it is there are only six floors. The Surf Club which is adjacent towers 12 floors and of course since it is newer you are treated to the lazy pool and other amenities which were not around with the Ocean Club was built. (fredt111)

No, the resort amenities and restaurants are charged to your room and you pay as you leave. You can eat at top restaurants or buy at the market and save--it's all your choice. Most people end up paying a lot less than at an AI place plus you don't wait in line for things you've already paid for. (mummaredweek)

There are no Ocean View Villas in the Scallop, Conch or Starfish buildings. Scallop, Conch and Starfish buildings are positioned in a u shape pattern and are located on the beach. Scallop, Conch and Starfish buildings only have Oceanfront Views (meaning the view from your sliding glass door directly faces the ocean) or Oceanside Views (meaning the view of the ocean is to the side and the sliding glass door faces the pool or the area beside the beside the building). Ocean View Villas are in the buildings further back from the beach behind the Scallop, Conch and Starfish buildings in the resort and are next to the children's pool, playground, tree house, gym, sporting area, and many BBQ grills. Ocean View Villas in those buildings further back from the beach typically are high enough to have a view of the ocean with a view of the buildings on the beach. Garden Views are the lower level views in those buildings further back from the beach which are not high enough to see the ocean however, they have beautiful views of the landscaped resort with sidewalks to the beach and are close to many resort amenities. While staying at this resort you have an easy walking path behind one of the towers to what I'll term the "main drag" in Palm Beach. Stores, restaurants at all amenity levels, movie theaters, Other hotels, casinos, etc. No need to feel landlocked into the resort. (stevenb375)

Just have one of the staff take you in their van and spend a day down the hill on one of their other sister properties right on the beach...Pueblo Bonito Rose' and Pueblo Bonito Blanca. They are both beautiful places as well that are right next to each other and are literally right on the beach where all the action is! Just minutes away from Sunset. Then come back to your luxurious privately gated home away from home to relax and enjoy all of the amenities that Sunset Beach has to offer unlike any other place in Cabo! The Marriott Desert Springs Villas II does not have complimentary access at the JW Desert Springs I Monday - Friday. There is a $10 per day fee to use the amenities during that time. The weekends are complimentary. (redweek_support)

The reason the Villas II do not have access to the hotel is that they are so much better! They were built with their own amazing pools and amenities. If you want to drive or walk clear over to the hotel, you can use it for $10 on weekdays and $0 on weekends. I’ve been going to Villas II for many years and have never felt the desire to go to the hotel. You will love Villas II. (kathyj221)

To add to Valerie's answer, so many of the wonderful amenities at the Hilton hotel across the street from the Bay Club, are free to the public. It is a 5-10 minute walk from the Bay Club or a free shuttle ride. You can stroll the beautiful grounds, ride the monorail, take the boat, eat at the restaurants, get ice cream, coffee or smoothies, and watch as the dolphins perform. There are museum quality displays of Eastern art and sculptures and a comfortable lobby. The daily charge is for the use of their pools, lagoons, paddle boats and water sport toys. In a recent inquiry to the concierge I was told $100 a day for a family group of 6...best to call Bay Club Owner Services and ask for the concierge: 1-877-229-2582 for current information. There is also a charge for hotel parking, but the shuttle is free. Bay Club owner since 1999. (barbaraa674)
