I am in the process of buying a 2BR Oceanfront unit at the Ocean Club. I thought all 2 BR units came with 3 bathrooms. My closing paperwork indicates the unit we are being sold is 2 bedroom Oceanfront, but with only 2 bathrooms. Do 2 BR, 2BA units exist in the Ocean Club buildings? If so, where are they located and how many of this room configuration are there? We prefer to have the 3 bathrooms unless you folks can point out advantages to having only 2 baths. While you will want to check directly with Hyatt to confirm, Hyatt owners are guaranteed their home resort and week, as long as they do it 6-months to one-year in advance. If you want to trade for another time or resort within the Hyatt network, you will need to familiarize yourself with Hyatt's three usage periods: Home Resort Preference Period (HRPP): Starting 12 months in advance of your fixed week up until 6 months prior to check-in, Hyatt owners are guaranteed the right to reserve their fixed week and unit at their home resort. Reserving at your home resort during this period is free (unless you make multiple, separate reservations). Owners can also call Hyatt anytime during this period and exchange their deeded week for points to reserve time at other Hyatt resorts. Club Use Period (CUP): The last six-months before your fixed check-in date, you are no longer guaranteed the use of your fixed week; you can now make reservations at any other resort within the Hyatt network -- assuming there is availability and you have the sufficient number of points. Limited Club Use Period (L CUP): The six-months AFTER your fixed check-in date, you can reserve at any Hyatt timeshare resort with availability, but only within 60-days of check-in. Phuket Beach Club property is directly on the beach. We have visited 75% of the Vacation Club properties and this is by far our favorite. It is wonderful and is on an 11 kilometer beach with almost no properties on it. Truly a gem on the Andaman Sea. (jeffn259)

To simplify - Surf Club is newer and best suited for families or larger groups, Ocean Club is older and more suitable for young and older couples. Both properties are well maintained and renovated. (jasonr229)

There are owners at locations other than this one, that exchange their week for one here, in order to rent it out. That is a club exchange and technically violates the rules. With a club exchange, their is no guarantee of a room band (upper, mid, low). If you rent from a legit owner of this resort, you are guaranteed the floor band. When you get the confirmation from the owner, what you are looking for is HRPP in the reservation details (indicates a Home Resort Preference Period reservation, which can only be made by owners of this resort). The Swallowtail complex is 1 mile from the Sea Pines Beach Club beach. From early Spring to late Fall, there is a trolley that stops across the street and makes it very easy to get there and back. There is also a parking lot at the beach club that you can access, but in the summer months, there are a limited number of parking spaces available for anyone who is not a full-time property owner, which we are not as timeshare owners. There is also full-time, year-round access to Tower Beach for Swallowtail owners. This beach is private, very nice, and less crowded. It's about 2 1/2 miles from Swallowtail, closer to the South Beach area of Sea Pines. Regarding gate pass access to Sea Pines, as an owner, you will enjoy access to Sea Pines, and will be able to pick up a Sea Pines gate pass upon arrival, just outside the main gate at the Sea Pines Welcome Center. The pass is free to you as an owner. There is a $100 assessment that has already been approved for next year. None others are in the works. The units, roofs, siding, grounds, interiors, etc. are in good repair. Directly across the street from Swallowtail is the Sea Pines Center, and there is a bike rental concession there. There are also many other bike rentals locations in and out of Sea Pines, and delivery and pick-up is offered by these services. I am a huge fan of Swallowtail and love coming to Hilton Head every year so, YES, I would purchase again. Compared to renting, it's quite a bargain. The location is fabulous. The units are spacious. And once you own, you can count on having a great vacation every year. (davidn429)
