The short walk to the beach is very nice and pleasant. If you are in good health and pack light, it is very feasible. I am an owner for 20 years. My kids grew up going here every year and we created many fond memories at this resort and the area. Over these years, I took this walk down to the beach many times with my kids, friends, ex-wife (when we were married), friends, relatives, girl friends, etc... 🙂 If you stay at this resort, walking down to the beach is a must do. From the resort, you will walk through the resort... then downhill along Newport Coast Blvd for about 2-3 minutes... cross over one street light intersection.... You will then end up in the California State Park with many flat, paved trails including some downhill trails to the beach (follow signs that say "Beach Access"). The State beach is wide open with plenty of room for your perfect spot and has life guards during the summer. If you have the energy, walk to Crystal Cove beach, have a drink at Beachcomber, and devour some burgers and fries at the Shake Shack... and walk back. Remember, if you walk downhill, be ready to walk back up!!! Enjoy! (quand5)

The Swallowtail complex is 1 mile from the Sea Pines Beach Club beach. From early Spring to late Fall, there is a trolley that stops across the street and makes it very easy to get there and back. There is also a parking lot at the beach club that you can access, but in the summer months, there are a limited number of parking spaces available for anyone who is not a full-time property owner, which we are not as timeshare owners. There is also full-time, year-round access to Tower Beach for Swallowtail owners. This beach is private, very nice, and less crowded. It's about 2 1/2 miles from Swallowtail, closer to the South Beach area of Sea Pines. Regarding gate pass access to Sea Pines, as an owner, you will enjoy access to Sea Pines, and will be able to pick up a Sea Pines gate pass upon arrival, just outside the main gate at the Sea Pines Welcome Center. The pass is free to you as an owner. There is a $100 assessment that has already been approved for next year. None others are in the works. The units, roofs, siding, grounds, interiors, etc. are in good repair. Directly across the street from Swallowtail is the Sea Pines Center, and there is a bike rental concession there. There are also many other bike rentals locations in and out of Sea Pines, and delivery and pick-up is offered by these services. I am a huge fan of Swallowtail and love coming to Hilton Head every year so, YES, I would purchase again. Compared to renting, it's quite a bargain. The location is fabulous. The units are spacious. And once you own, you can count on having a great vacation every year. (davidn429)

There are no Ocean View Villas in the Scallop, Conch or Starfish buildings. Scallop, Conch and Starfish buildings are positioned in a u shape pattern and are located on the beach. Scallop, Conch and Starfish buildings only have Oceanfront Views (meaning the view from your sliding glass door directly faces the ocean) or Oceanside Views (meaning the view of the ocean is to the side and the sliding glass door faces the pool or the area beside the beside the building). Ocean View Villas are in the buildings further back from the beach behind the Scallop, Conch and Starfish buildings in the resort and are next to the children's pool, playground, tree house, gym, sporting area, and many BBQ grills. Ocean View Villas in those buildings further back from the beach typically are high enough to have a view of the ocean with a view of the buildings on the beach. Garden Views are the lower level views in those buildings further back from the beach which are not high enough to see the ocean however, they have beautiful views of the landscaped resort with sidewalks to the beach and are close to many resort amenities. The closest beach is Crystal Cove California State Beach. The north end of the beach is closest to the resort, isolated, and less crowded. In the summer, they have lifeguards stationed along the beach. You can access the north end of the beach by walking to it. The shuttle will take you to the center of Crystal Cove where you will find the Beachcomber restaurant, the Shake Schack Burgers and beach rentals (e.g. chairs, boogie boards...). (quand5)

Oceana Palms does their own in-house beach chair service, whereas OceanPointe uses Oceanside Beach Service. At Oceana you can rent umbrellas but they don't have the clamshell cabanas to rent due to the smaller beach area & turtles.They do have complimentary strap chairs though - whereas the chairs Ocean Pointe rents are the wooden chairs with cushions. Ocean Pointe's beach is way bigger due to them having ±5x the beach frontage. . (johnparker)

Very steep walk. Beach & water quality are very poor at best (tiny beach & swamp-like, was there this past summer). Better to drive to beaches elsewhere like Ines's Secret Beach near Waipa bridge or Waikoko Beach near Hanalei. No idea @ shuttles. (chrish380)

Each morning, umbrellas and beach chairs are set up on the beach. They may be rented by following the info on the chairs. Most people bring their own folding chairs etc for the beach. Many families bring beach wagons full of what they need for the day! (kathya434)

All of Ka'anapali beach is relatively calm because it is on the west side of Maui. If you want bigger waves, then go to the north side beaches or the surfing spot near the airport (east side). The beach at Nanea is beautiful sand and is well maintained to keep it free of driftwood and trash. The snorkeling is some of the best if you take it slow. Usually, a turtle or two will swim up of down the coast and occasionally a pod of dolphins will cruise by late in the day. Even if you are just sitting on the beach, the views are breathtaking, and you can catch sight of whales in the season. (garym790)

Although you cannot swim right in front of the resort, you can walk down the hill and go immediately to the right and walk to the end of where the marina begins (10 minutes tops) and there is a locals beach there. It is quiet but no frills, no restaurants, no drink carts, no people on the beach selling you anything, etc. You can bring your own cooler and just relax. The other beaches are just a short cab ride ($3-5) or a short water taxi away if you want to get in at the marina and go to Medano beach. (lisab1964)

Just stayed here for the third time consecutively (July 29-August 6, 2022). Beach chairs are available for free for guests with no umbrellas. The ones on the beach with umbrellas are rentals from the lifeguards but reserve asap if you're in the busy season (June-August) as they go fast. Sea Pines Beach Club next door also has the orange chairs and umbrellas for rental and they are set up on the beach as well. (mattk301)

Marriott's Newport Coast Villas is not on the beach. It is located on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The closest beach is the Crystal Cove State Beach and the resort does offer scheduled shuttle service to the beach, along with nearby dining and shopping. (redweek_support)

The resort is not "on" the beach. You walk across a fairly quiet road, through a nice little park, and you are on a lovely public beach. It's an easy, pleasant, 8-10 minute walk. If you have a lot to carry, you could drive to the park by road , and then take some wooded walk ways to the beach. We travel light, and love to walk near the ocean, and often walk the beach two or three times a day, Sunrise, afternoon, and some sun sets as well. (janetm714)

Is the beach directly in front swimmable? I read that there is a good amount of coral, the beach is relatively steep in this area, and it’s not as swimmable as those beaches near the Marriott ocean club to the south. (brianb1540)

We go down around 9:oo am and there is always palapas available for free and lots of room around the pool. If you REALLY want to be close to the ocean, there is a smal charge through the hotel. We don't see the need. We walk the beach a lot and like the pool and the palapas. You can get out of the sun easier with a palapa.(move the chairs, more room) Tip: Walk down the beach to "The Beach Bar" and drink and eat at half the price of the Marriott. In front of the Playa Linda Resort. The Marriott Surf Club is very bad and yes, crack of dawn, no room, rude people from NYC! (larrym490)

Dec 2019: Islander restaurant at LaCabana open for bf, lunch and dinner. Islander has live music nightly 4-7pm during dinner (we eat by pool) and remember sunsets around 6:15. You can also order LUNCH and drink ON THE BEACH and servers bring it to you and charge your room with your paper card. Dinner reservations at Los Ramblas overlooking beach as it fills quickly. Cinnabon & coffees in the lobby and convenience store (mini 7-11) near casino has fruit, yogurt, dutch cheese, snacks, wine & beer, etc and is open late. WALK to restaurants next door: Italian and Peruvian food and Gelato next door at Paradise (pink building) or at Mangos at Amsterdam (Golden yellow building) and dinner at Passions (on the beach). A little further and more $ Screaming Eagle. Grocery: SuperFoods is behind LaCabana. (elizabethd433)

Do you rent the palapas through Marriott? I read that the beach in front of the Ocean Club is a public beach and now there is another palapa vendor. Do they both charge the same price and do you have to get there at the crack of dawn? Is it also a problem getting beach chairs with umbrellas/shade by the pool too? (doloresb53)

Beach is lined with 10' Shade Cabanas. They are anchored and permanent. Beach Volleyball and Bar/Food is located close to the Beach Entrance. This is a big complex with plenty of room to spread out. (micheleb577)

We were at LaCabana Dec 2019 and we had direct access to beach since road upgrade completed. There is a new bike and pedestrian lane along the beach that we enjoyed walking every morning & evening toward Costa Linda resort. There is a new bypass to the airport that diverts traffic away from beach road too so there was LESS traffic by LaCabana & Amsterdam Manor Hotel than last two years. We heard good news about plans to expand AIRPORT with additional runway & terminal by 2030 too. (elizabethd433)

Already in place on the beach, you can rent 2 canvas beach loungers and umbrella as a set. I would book ahead of time and they’ll have your name reserved on the chairs. I don’t know if they have an “official storage area”, especially if you’re looking for overnight storage, but there is a lot of lawn space where you could put your stuff down inside the gates. It’s really no different than leaving your stuff on a pool lounger if you head out to the beach. (bonniel216)

Just have one of the staff take you in their van and spend a day down the hill on one of their other sister properties right on the beach...Pueblo Bonito Rose' and Pueblo Bonito Blanca. They are both beautiful places as well that are right next to each other and are literally right on the beach where all the action is! Just minutes away from Sunset. Then come back to your luxurious privately gated home away from home to relax and enjoy all of the amenities that Sunset Beach has to offer unlike any other place in Cabo! You have the best of both worlds there! (micheled377)
