Palapa's are availble even after 9:00AM if you don't care about being right near the water-we don't. There is always room around the pool. The Surf Club is nothing like the Ocean Club. The Surf Club has 3x the people with the same beach area. Ocean Club is awesome. (larrym490)

Ocean Club was the first Marriott Vacation Club property. As grand as it is there are only six floors. The Surf Club which is adjacent towers 12 floors and of course since it is newer you are treated to the lazy pool and other amenities which were not around with the Ocean Club was built. (fredt111)

To add to Valerie's answer, so many of the wonderful amenities at the Hilton hotel across the street from the Bay Club, are free to the public. It is a 5-10 minute walk from the Bay Club or a free shuttle ride. You can stroll the beautiful grounds, ride the monorail, take the boat, eat at the restaurants, get ice cream, coffee or smoothies, and watch as the dolphins perform. There are museum quality displays of Eastern art and sculptures and a comfortable lobby. The daily charge is for the use of their pools, lagoons, paddle boats and water sport toys. In a recent inquiry to the concierge I was told $100 a day for a family group of 6...best to call Bay Club Owner Services and ask for the concierge: 1-877-229-2582 for current information. There is also a charge for hotel parking, but the shuttle is free. Bay Club owner since 1999. (barbaraa674)

There are owners at locations other than this one, that exchange their week for one here, in order to rent it out. That is a club exchange and technically violates the rules. With a club exchange, their is no guarantee of a room band (upper, mid, low). If you rent from a legit owner of this resort, you are guaranteed the floor band. When you get the confirmation from the owner, what you are looking for is HRPP in the reservation details (indicates a Home Resort Preference Period reservation, which can only be made by owners of this resort). Phuket Beach Club property is directly on the beach. We have visited 75% of the Vacation Club properties and this is by far our favorite. It is wonderful and is on an 11 kilometer beach with almost no properties on it. Truly a gem on the Andaman Sea. (jeffn259)

The Swallowtail complex is 1 mile from the Sea Pines Beach Club beach. From early Spring to late Fall, there is a trolley that stops across the street and makes it very easy to get there and back. There is also a parking lot at the beach club that you can access, but in the summer months, there are a limited number of parking spaces available for anyone who is not a full-time property owner, which we are not as timeshare owners. There is also full-time, year-round access to Tower Beach for Swallowtail owners. This beach is private, very nice, and less crowded. It's about 2 1/2 miles from Swallowtail, closer to the South Beach area of Sea Pines. Regarding gate pass access to Sea Pines, as an owner, you will enjoy access to Sea Pines, and will be able to pick up a Sea Pines gate pass upon arrival, just outside the main gate at the Sea Pines Welcome Center. The pass is free to you as an owner. There is a $100 assessment that has already been approved for next year. None others are in the works. The units, roofs, siding, grounds, interiors, etc. are in good repair. Directly across the street from Swallowtail is the Sea Pines Center, and there is a bike rental concession there. There are also many other bike rentals locations in and out of Sea Pines, and delivery and pick-up is offered by these services. I am a huge fan of Swallowtail and love coming to Hilton Head every year so, YES, I would purchase again. Compared to renting, it's quite a bargain. The location is fabulous. The units are spacious. And once you own, you can count on having a great vacation every year. (davidn429)
