John: I'm in the process of "sorting out" all of the changes Marriott has recently made and will be featuring Marriott in next month's Newsletter. I can tell you that it is not unusual for timeshares such as Marriott to limit the "perks" or advantages of their programs involving hotels. Hilton does something similar...it makes no difference when dealing with timeshare if the product was purchased on the primary or secondary market, but secondary market timeshares can not be used towards Elite status.
