we plan to not pay our 2012 fees and let our membership default. if you have only points and you're a U.S. Collections owner only (look at your 2012 statement heading) and you're all paid up, you can walk away. don't pay 2012 maintenance fees. they'll send you late notices and probably a generic letter warning they'll turn it over to a collections agency or whatever then they'll terminate your membership. that's roughly what i've been told by dri.
i know nothing about what's going on at Poipu resort. There were no fees on our statement regarding any water intrusion. if you're deeded, call Collections Dept. and talk to a supervisor and ask what you can do to terminate your ownership. hopefully they will give you real advice and not just try to keep you unaware of your rights. i personally don't know what dri can or cannot do.
