Traveling Sales Persons selling INVERNESS at South Padre

Aug 04, 2013

There is a group going around the USA selling a resort from South Padre Island Texas ( Inverness at South Padre ) it is lead by Randy DePriest and Jodi Clay they work for Craig Fisher and Michael Bell.

HOW IT WORKS: you are invited to lunch or dinner at a local establishment like Golden Corral, Longhorn Steakhouse ect. You meet with a representative where they explain how you had a chance to convert to points in the past but since you didn't it is now your last chance to pay a fee and convert to points.

WHAT IS REALLY HAPPENING: They are selling you another timeshare out of the above resort with an additional maintenance fee which has RCI points and then they can convert your old timeshare fixed or floating week to points.

WHAT YOU CAN DO: you can contact your resort pay a much smaller fee if you wish to convert to RCI points and the truth is, you can do that anytime you want or your children can if you give it to. Them without having to buy another timeshare.

MORAL TO THIS: Do not buy their story, have a great meal then leave.

You might want to check out the General Discussion forum and the thread Points Rental Liquidators. It is a very similar story and could possibly even be the same operation under a different name.

As for "[contacting] your resort pay a much smaller fee if you wish to convert to RCI points", yes, you can do that but it would not likely be a smaller fee. What resorts usually do when an owner there inquires about converting is invite that owner to an "owner's update" (which turns out to be one of those high-pressure sales pitches like what they do when trying to sell a timeshare) pressuring him to pay thousands of dollars to convert from RCI Weeks to RCI Points.

RCI only charges about $200-300 to convert. Anything on top of that that the owner pays (usually thousands of dollars) is for the resort's profit.
