Description

The resort Les Cottages de Lonvilliers is built on the mountain in the heart of Anse Marcel, on the Northern coast of the French side of Sint Maarten. It is an ideal place for people looking for a calm and friendly environment. As the resort has only 13 units, enjoy the charm and home from home ambience. The island, edged with sandy beaches is also a paradise for shopping. To enjoy the island, visitors should rent a car.

I would give this resort 3 and 1/2 stars if that was a selection. As advertised - this is a place for a calm and friendly environment - no glitzy shows, just a basic timeshare. We visited in April 2011 and based on the negative reviews were pleased with our accommodations. The resort has two separate buildings (one upper and one lower) with one bedroom units. The units are split level - bedroom upstairs and living/kitchen area below with a bath on each level. Units are very basic but comfortable - AC works fine, medium size refrigerator but everything worked. There is a basic restaurant on site for breakfast but cannot rated as we did not use.

There is no view of the sea from the lower apartments as houses have been built in front of the Cottages de Lonvilliers as well as two large new resorts. There is no sharing of anything with the resorts. The beach is a very short walk down the hill and through a path between the two resorts. There are chairs and umbrellas for rent.

The manager was helpful in providing information on restaurants and other general information.

This was our first stay on the French side of Sint Maarten and very enjoyable. The manager
