Each one-bedroom unit features a queen bed in the bedroom, a sleeper sofa in the living area, fully equipped kitchen, and a private lanai which is the perfect place for a morning cup of coffee.
Spend your days lounging by the resort pool, or climb the ladder down to the ocean for wonderful snorkeling and swimming. Kuleana Club also provides ocean side barbecues lit by tiki torches for a romantic dinner under the stars.
For a truly unique experience in Maui, view the beautiful landscape on horseback. Journey back in time to stunning natural beauty that is only easily accessible by horseback. Stayed at an ocenfront ground floor unit in December 2006. It was like heaven on earth. The ground floor oceanfront units are the best units here since you have an unobstructed view of the ocean as well as the ability to walk out from your unit to the ocean.
The staff was very nice and even gave me an extra pair of abandoned sandals when my luggage was delayed several days! Most unusual dedication to pleasing everyone.
The barbecue units right on the ocean are awesome. The staff cleans them spotlessly every night. You could be barbecuing your dinner while swimming in the ocean or swimming pool at the same time since the activities are so close to one another.
In the hotels, it can take as much as 10 minutes to walk from one activity to another which saps valuable vacation time.
This is a do-it-yourself vacation not a vacation in which you are waited on hand and foot as in Four Seasons Hotel (which happens to be the finest hotel in Maui and elsewhere).
If you are going for a 3 day stay; go to the big hotels as they are better suited for a short visit. If you are staying for 5 days or more stay at time share units like this little jewel of a place.

Unbelievably relaxing resort! No noise, very tranquil, best outdoor pool in West Maui, and tremendous sunsets and oceanfront views. I saw whales breeching from our patio.

Stayed in an ocean view room on the ground floor in Dec 04. Fantastic to be able to walk straight out of your unit right to the ocean. Older property that is well maintained. Turtles visible almost every day right from the shoreline. Wonderful sunsets. Good snorkeling right off the shore (a bit tuff on the entry/exit....). Many (most?) of the units are whole ownership, not timeshare, and the permanent residents are very nice. Close to all the good stuff on west Maui, including Lahaina. Would stay at Kuleana again in a heartbeat!

I would never stay anywhere else! I loved it and im going back in a couple months. Having a condo on the bottom and beach front was what made my experience so great. I highly recomend staying in a similar unit. It was so nice to just walk out my back patio and go right to the beach and to cook dinner at night on the bbq's right along the beach shore with tiki torches lighting the way. Having breakfast every morning on my patio with the ocean right there was just a great experience. I would say it is the perfect place if you want a great romantic location for two.

We have been visiting the Kuleana for about 25 years. We have stayed on all the other islands, and still like this place the best. It isn't fancy, and there is no A/C, but it is quiet, clean and the grounds are beautiful.
We recently purchased two weeks at the Kuleana, we like it so much. Can't beat the view from our lani. And, the little beach is delightful, as is the ladder down the lava flow for instant snorkling.

We had a mid level ocean view room. The view is magnificent - grass, palm trees, flowers, ocean, Lanai and Molikai (sic) islands, sunsets, then lanterns, stars, and moon at night.
We felt we were in a beautiful well kept private garden. The pool is large and not crowded. I would like to see them add a spa. We did not use the BBQ but it nicely positioned by the ocean's edge. No beach but there is a ladder into the ocean and the depth is about 7 feet. We saw several snorklers in the clear, calm, warm water. We did not use the tennis court.
An activities person comes on the first morning and we signed up for several activities including the all day trip to Hana and half day snorkle trip to Molikini (sic) and and all day Trilogy sail trip with sunset return to from Lanai. All three are well worth it.
I golfed at Kapalua The Plantation Course, home of the Mercedes Championship each Janauary - wide fairways and forget it trouble off them. And views to take your breath away. Even if you do not golf, go for dinner.
The local village has a great fish market and my wife fixed us a wonderful fresh fish dinner every bit as good as Mamma's Fish House.
Several high rise hotels and large crowds are just down the road and we visited them but it is so nice to get away from the crowds. Kuleana is quiet, low key, and very beautiful. Nothing on the Northwest Coast is more than a 10 minute drive from Kuleana.

Stayed here in Aug 1974 and again in March 2005. A clean simple condo, fairly small in size (about 400 sf) but right on the ocean. No air conditioning in the units. The exterior is painted to match the reddish brown dirt of West Maui (gag...) and is somewhat gaudy. Nice pool and tennis court. Not much of a swimming beach, but Kapalua Beach and Kaanapali Beach are only a few miles away. A good place to go to get away from it all.

The unit(#510) was right by a busy road, which was not good because the windows needed to be open all the time. It was extremely hot in the late afternoon hours. The ceiling fans helped, but it wasn't the same as air conditioning!
The 1 bedroom condo was adequate, but dated and worn. Many of the kitchen utensils were missing. The floor had not been scrubbed for quite a while. I bought my own sponges and Lysol to scub the bathroom, then it was better.
I was hoping to get an oceanfront unit , but was told at check-in that I had no choice which unit I was assigned.
There was no activities on site.
I give it a 2 star instead of 1 only because the site is very beautiful. You can snorkel off the point in the back of the resort. I saw a stingray out there.
The beach behind it is lots of fun. Gentle waves and soft sand.
The pool was fresh and clean.
The location is a little far from the action. We drove into Lahaina and Knaapali beach every day.

This is an small quiet resort, without Air conditioning. But it is very close to the water, and very fun for the family. We went 2 times last year. Once with the kids, once without. Everyone at the resort was great!

This well maintained resort is right on the waters edge and has a lovely jeddy or point where we saw a sunset wedding. Very romantic!
It is not as new as some but it is reasonable and has friendly staff. Activities planner on site saves time and money.

My husband and I own several condos and rental properties, but our unit at The Kuleana is our pride and joy. The aura at The Kuleana makes it a truly a special place. We purchased our condo in June 2002 and totally renovated later that July. It is warm and welcoming, decorated in fun, and elegant island decor. The grounds are maintained to perfection. The pool is quite large and heated. A majority of the staff actually live on the property, and take great pride in their home. They are always helpful and eager to accomodate. The onsite Activity Desk is very convenient. We absolutely love it here, and I know you will too. For more information, Please VISIT our WEBSITE at www.letsgo2maui.com - We have a 6 page site loaded with lots of PHOTOS and more information. Our unit is DIRECT OCEANFRONT, with a SPECTACULAR VIEW! Check us out! I promise, you'll be happy you did!
Aloha Everyone :-)

I'm an owner. We love Kuleana. The location is the best! Our unit is oceanfront and very close to the water. We are able to view surfers, whales, snorkelers, turtles, boats, beautiful sunsets etc. from our Lanai while enjoying our morning coffee.
The units are small so it's really best for two people. We never spend much time indoors and the grounds at Kuleana are beautiful. The pool is quiet and there are BBQ's for guests to use oceanfront. There are benches to sit on and enjoy the view and tropical flowers to admire. It's simple but quiet with a wonderful view. I can't wait to get back there.

Really loved the resort even though it was rather simple. Was clean & grounds were very well kept. The view made it all fabulous. Sat on lanai and looked out at Molokai & Lanai. Beautiful! Would return in a heartbeat!
