Description

Newport Onshore is the perfect home base for your Newport vacation. The harbor and marina are right in your front yard. When you want to join the seafaring fun, you can rent equipment or charter boats close by. For swimmers, public beaches are about two miles away, or you can use the resort's indoor/outdoor pools. Newport is filled with 19th-century mansions open for public tours. Newport's history dates back to the 1700s, and more than 400 pre- Revolutionary War homes are in the area. After you've seen Newport's past, visit the crafts shops along the waterfront that are within easy walking distance. These spacious units are beautifully decorated and feature full kitchens. This is a "perfect home away from home" vacation destination with all the amenities, plus so much more.

We loved the resort. We were in thge West Wind building and had a view of the Harbor from both sides. Even counting in the noise from the boats, which didn't bother us much, the view itself deserved the five stars. But so much more: The master bed had a great mattress, almost as good as the one we have home, better than 95% of other resorts we have visited. Whirlpool and fireplace in unit were a nice touch. Bedrroms far enif from each other to give privacy. Furnishings nice. Two pools, indoor and out, both a little cooler than expected, but weather was so nice, it didn't affect our ability to enjoy. Will be here again in thefall and hope indoor poll a little warmer. In the middle of everything.

Rented the third week in June and had a great time. Had a two bedroom, two bath room that could have used some updating but it was very clean. I had two decks and two great views. This resort has the three L's; location, location, and location. I never got in my car during the stay. The pool was nice and had brand new grills for public use. Staff was friendly when I dealt with them.

My family and I visit this resort often. It has the best location in Newport along with the best views. There are many good restaurants ( Puerini's, Scales and Shells, The Red Parrott to name a few ). Parking is scarce but you can walk to most places. The outdoor pool is good and the indoor pool could use a little updating.

The Cliffwalk is amazing and the Mansion tours are interesting and informative. There are harbor tours, art galleries and nice small shops. Another plus is that you are roughly and hour away from Boston.

Worth the trip!

Spent Winter Festival week at Newport Onshore, 2/16-2/23/07. Arrived late so checkin was done at sister resort, Inn on the Harbor. Parking locations are assigned, we were unable to secure under our building but outside spot was close. Our two bedroom was clean, and roomy for 6 during our stay, kitchen was on the small side but did it purpose for our meals. Stove, fridge, dishwasher, microwave. Change in housekeeping, only midweek cleaning, so don't expect daily service, it seems most timeshares in Newport have stopped the service. Having washer/dryer in unit allowed clean towels for the week. First bedroom had two twin beds, the other king size, living room had pull out sofa. TV's were in both bedrooms and LR. We attempted to use indoor pool, but it seems they were having a problem with the heater for the air and kids were frozen, so the entire week, we used either the sister resort, or passes were given for YMCA, (downside, YMCA could only provide two hours during the evening family session) Driving was involved to get to both. We had an end unit during our week, great views but on the windy nights, cold drafts blew in. The location for Onshore was great, walking distance to most places, even the Hyatt for the Chili Cook Off. Thames Street has several shops/stores/restaurants opened in the winter, good bargins too. If you needed to use a car, parking was available since it was the off season and the meters are not in use. Many things to do and see during the winter festival, so many choices. Discounts were provided with Winter Festival Buttons a plus for families. Movie houses in Newport, Opera House, and in Middleton, ony 5 min or so drive from Newport Onshore. Food store, Stop and Shop close with car and rented $1.00 movies since room had dvd/vhs player. Six of six are looking to return to Newport again, all had great time. Even with minor checkin problem, and no pool on site to use. The staff was professional and friendly all times even with some of the problems we had. My one big concern was lack of maintenance issues being resolved. Entire week without pool use, and problem with a sliding exterior door during our stay. That's life.
