I am an owner of a Presidential timeshare. The new units are awesom, the first units built are a disapointment compared to the Newly constructed ones.I hope they upgrade soon. My experience with some of their sales reps are that of brow beating, and high pressure tactics the Natzi Gestapo would be proud of. About every 2 months I was Asked for an update, given 100 bucks, for a torture session. I would like to say 2 reps did not offend me,or put me in the Hot Seat! 4 Others, would make Charles Manson look like a Choir Boy. The Demeaning Stares and Attitude were outragios. At My Last meeting. I Finally Lost My Composure, and Got Right Back into The face of the Thug who was makeing me look as if I was some inferior being. I might add This Guy Was as Huge as a Linebacker,And could pass for a Hit Man! I just purchased annother time share with the Seaside Resort in Galveston,no Bonus time included. I enjoy going to the Fox River Resort. It is only 45 min. away. Bonus time is great,if I could get in more than 2 times a year. I do recomend this place.M. Ryan Added on 4/6/08 The Thug was fired!!! Went back for annother session, and purchased a white week to make my diamond membership, also became an ambassodor owner. Put My 3 adult children on the deeds. The sales people were friendly, and truthful, seems the brow beatings have been adressed. M. Ryan

I have owned here for 7 years, but usually trade my week to go to other resorts. In February I took some friends for a "girl's weekend" and we had a great time. We went to nearby towns and did wine tastings at local wineries, did some shopping and spent the rest of the time relaxing at the resort.
Although Fox River is not by any means a 5- star resort, it was perfect. Check in took 1 minute, the room was clean and had everything we could possibly need. Our corkscrew was broken (a must for all the wine we bought!) and upon contacting the desk, they delivered a new one to our room in less than 5 minutes. Very friendly staff, and this is the first resort where we were not hassled to go to a presentation for sales. The rooms are not very modern, more of a wood cabin kind of look to them, but we loved it.
I have stayed at this resort 3 times now, and although there is a lot more to do in the summer months, it is perfect for a nice relaxing time. Activities and movies are planned, although I have not attended any.

EXCELLENT! VERY PLEASANT STAY!
I stayed here three nights for FREE on Silverleaf's bonus time program. The condo was exactly like the models I had seen there previously with a few exceptions.
The only negatives were the cabinets were a different finish than the models and the carpet was a bit frayed at the entry. Also, I am a clean freak and think housekeeping could have done a better job of getting into the corners, etc. Most people wouldn't have noticed.
All the bed linens were extremely clean (sheets, pillow cases AND bedspreads) and there were about 10 bath towels, plenty of hand towels, wash cloths and kitchen towels. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with every utensil imaginable plus an icemaker, toaster, oven, and microwave. The seating was plentiful and comfortable all coordinated to a rustic look. One bedroom has a jacuzzi the other has a standard full bath. The TVs had cable and there were 3 phones (bring a calling card). 2 of the phones are on 1 extension - the other phone has its own extension. The balcony had a wooden table and 4 chairs with an entrance from the master bedroom and also from the living room.
The grounds are absolutely spotless. Free mini golf, free swimming in a huge indoor pool (outdoor pool too for the summer), a free 5 hole par 3 golf course, board games, horseshoes, volleyball, etc., etc. The free campsites were in very good condition as I walked through the area on the way to the Fox River. I will drive to the river next time. It is connected to the resort but far from the condos. They have over 300 acres of land there. Do not mistake the lake with canoes for the river. They have horse trail rides for $20 an hour and $7.50 for a 15 minute kids ride. They are in the process of installing a central fire alarm system in the condos.
I was there midweek (school also in session) and although the resort was full it was very very very quiet and peaceful.
I am a bachelor that never cooks. There is a full country store (Norway Store), coffee shop and Italian restaurant one mile away. The resort's snack bar is very limited. There are many restaurants 7 - 15 minutes away west on 71 (over 80) or west a few miles on 80. Ask the staff for exit numbers. There is a go kart track (1 mile away), several golf courses, low altitude flying school, skydive place and 3 great state parks (don't miss Starved Rock State Park) within 30 minutes. Great nearby small towns include Utica, Ottawa and LaSalle- Peru. There is a casino in Joliet and another in Aurora. Without traffic, it will take 75 minutes to the Sears Tower, etc in downtown Chicago.
I have been here on the free day usage several times and had a good time. This is a great place for singles, couples or families. You won't go broke with kids asking for tons of expensive things here (unlike WI Dells or Disney areas). They will have plenty to see and do all for free or cheap. Do not miss the state parks ... Starved Rock, Mathiesson and Illinois/Michigan Canal. American Bald Eagles!
Take advantage of Silverleaf's Bonus Time at any of the 12 resorts, free camping at many, free day usage at all. This is a great value resort in the middle of miles and miles and miles of farms - many with fresh produce roadside.
Follow the signs for the RV registration if you arrive after the front desk is closed (and are not familiar with the resort) or I guarantee you will get lost. Check-in documents are prepared in advance for quick check-in.
The staff was very welcoming and courteous with a couple of them remembering / addressing me by name. One of the grounds staff saw me outside, greeted me and asked if I was enjoying my stay.
I will be buying another week here or at another Silverleaf property and have already taken three friends to see this property. This is a hidden treasure.
Note: The resort is actually on the edge of Sheridan, IL and really should have a Norway, IL address. The entrance is easily missed - it is in the Norway 45 mph zone on Rt 71 150 - 200 ft west of the Norway Store on the opposite side of the road. This is about .8 miles west of Rt 52.
(added 11/4/04) ... I now own 4 weeks here (16, 23, 26 and 51) and looking for more to buy or rent. I will consider selling my week 16 or 51 and trading any of my weeks.

The Condos were well-planned out, complete with whirlpool bath in master bedroom and full kitchen. Our kids LOVED the indoor swimming pool and both types of golf. We had FUN! Also, love how close it is, so we can drive there in a jiffy!

We stayed at this resort 12/26/2003 - 01/02/2004. We were very dissappointed with our stay here and definately not recommend it to anyone wanting to enjoy their timeshare experience.
Starting with the registration office. We were greeted very unprofessionally and made to feel like we were an intrusion on the employees day.
Thermostat in second bedroom was not working. We called to have someone fix it. Someone came out to the unit while we were gone for the day and left a note saying that it had been repaired, but it was NOT REPAIRED.
Television in living room received static on all local channels. Asked for some to come out and take a look at it. NO ONE ever even came out to check set.
There were not many planned activities. Not even for New Years Eve!!!!
Living room was very small. Sleeper sofa was very very uncomfortable. Units are advertised to accomodate 6 people but table only seats 4!! 2 people had to eat at a coffee table.

Resort is in the middle of nowhere 9 miles off the freeway surrounded by farmland. Nearest village is Norway, a mile away. Grounds are well-kept; par 3 exec course was great (and free!), as was putt putt course. Has large enclosed pool, large outdoor pool, stables and lots of campers and RV rigs. Our 2 bdrm unit was small. Beds and furniture were worn, rustic and uncomfortable. Porch was nice touch and the resort is quiet.

Had a great time at Fox River! Loved the pool, the miniature golf, and the par 3 golf holes! Would love to go back someday.

I am part owner, and I have visited a few other ones. I give Fox River a 4 star rating, due to the fact, you are never finished on time with the projects you have started.

Silverleaf's Fox River Resort is a wonderful timeshare facility which includes: a small private lake with paddle boats, canoes and fishing; an activity center with a snack bar, ping pong, air hockey and arcade games; volleyball, basketball, tennis and shuffle board courts; a children's playground; 5 holes of par 3 golf (free).. it's not a Jack Nicholis or Robert Trent Jones designed course, but it is well maintained with water hazards, hills and sand traps; 18 holes of miniature golf (the grandchildren love it) with two pitch & put greens; a VERY large indoor pool with a roof that opens, an outdoor pool with hot tub, horseback riding (at reasonable rates), pony rides, a LARGE campground (previously Thousand Trails) and picnic grounds on the banks of the Fox River.. Hiking and biking on the I&M (Ill & Mich) Canal National Historic Corridor and at Starved Rock State Park are wonderful day trips.. antique and art galleries with attractive prices are abundant in the small nearby communities such as Ottawa..
