We were at Whispering Woods in June (19-27-09). Great place to stay. Grounds as well as units were well kept. Office people were very helpful in giving ideas ot things to see and do. Mt. Hood was out 3 or 4 days of our weeks stay--a very beautiful sight. GREAT Location!

Welches is a good location to go in a dfifferent direction everyday and we covered most of the state except the eastern part. Many outstanding sites and places to visit in easy traveling distance from Welchels. Riverboat cruise on the Columbia River was good. There is a great Aviation & Automative Museum in Hood River, many museums, approximately an hour to Orgeon City and the End of the Trail Museum. Great BBQ restaurant and Mexician restaurant close by.

sorry, not quite what I would call a Gold Crown Resort...although, beautifully decorated, customer service was not very good. Woke up first day to men pounding on the building outside the bedroom window. They were patching the wood sides to paint occupied buildings. Painting and pounding for four of the seven days with no apologies, just "move your car out of carports for the painters". Also, don't ask for extra garbage bags or toilet paper -- it proved to be a large task for lady at the desk. Service without the smile. My husband came back scared.

Not much to do here, we enjoyed the golf at the resort next door, small pool and gym area, not very many resort sponsored activities though. It was very pretty here, but hard to relax with all the pounding noise and people popping up in your windows. Probably a perfect spot for skiiers in the winter.

We did enjoy some of the nearby sites, etc. Town nearby, Sandy, is very quaint and people there were very friendly. Multonomah Falls was beautiful.

Whether you like the mountains or the city, this is a GREAT vacation spot. In a nutshell, there is always something to do: hiking along the Salmon River (old growth forest), exploring the Mt. Hood area or the spectacular Columbia Gorge, skiing (both Nordic and Alpine) or Snow Boarding in the Winter or simply enjoying the great city of Portland (45 minutes away) you'll never be bored. For those who like to relax, Welches is also a quiet, peaceful spot with lovely views of the mountains that fully surround the resort. Truly, a little slice of paradise, any time of year!

January 5, 2008 Great location and complex. Less than an hour from Portland airport and 20 minutes to 3 ski resorts; Timberline, Mt. Hood Meadows and Mt. Hood Ski Bowl. Discount ski tickets to Timberline are sold in the office and discount golf to the adjacent course is available. The unit was a 2bd/2ba plus loft. About 1300 sq. ft. with a single car garage. Good for when it snows!! Remodeled throughout a few years ago. All units face the golf course and have great mountain views. A small deck off the living room is great during the summer months for outdoor living which we have enjoyed on previous visits. The development is older but very well maintained. Great staff to answer all your questions and help you out. Nice walking paths around the area. There is a small but very adequate grocery store nearby if you like to cook, and several good restaurants nearby. Pool is heated and open all year round.

Great place to stay in the winter. Skiing and sledding is a short drive away. The places are nicely furnished with a heated pool. Workout room doesn't have much. Great place to read and relax!

The 2 bedroom townhouses on the golf fairways are of absolutely first class construction. They even put a stained glass window in each one. The natural setting is your typical westcoast rainforest with the tall cedars and douglas fir. Tons of onsite hiking trails down to the Salmon River. Nearby is Mt. Hood, Portland, The Columbia River Gorge, Multnomah Falls.....all must sees. About two hours away to the southeast is the Bend/Sunriver resort area. This area is semi- arid and very different from Welches' green forests. Many volcanic sites to visit.....the Lava Butte and Lava River Caves are most memorable just south of Bend. Bend, itself, has been written up as one of the most habitable cities in America. It really is a pretty town.
