We stayed at Yllas in July of 1994. It was a
wonderful experience. The cabins were as
advertised, clean, and the sauna was great.
We were married at the resort on top of one
of the downhill slopes and all was arranged by
the resort staff - what a great bunch of folks
they were. We are returning for our 10th
anniversary.
If you go in the summer - don't forget the
mosquito repellent if you plan to spend time
outdoors.
Sweden and Norway are nearby so plan on
taking a couple of side trips.
This is an update after our re-visit in July
2004. Everything was still great as expected
and we had a wonderful time. Much
development has taken place in the past 10
tears however so there are many new
varieties of places to stay including several
nearby hotels that are open all year. The
highlight of our experience was a day-trip to
Alta, Norway where we visited the Museum
containing a number of rock carvings. Tours
are given (we heard English, German and
French for example). It is a long day but
worth it to see this UNESCO World Heritage
Site.
Finland uses Euros now for cash but Norway
and Sweden do not but credit cards work just
the same.
