We've been timeshare owners at the Finisterra for 15 years; we currently own two weeks in the original section of the hotel and one week in the Palapa Beach Club section. The Finisterra is our favorite vacation destination.... walking distance to the marina and town; private beach (no vendors!); friendly staff; computers with internet service; clean, comfortable rooms; three pools, one with a swim up bar; good food; great whale watching in season. We even watched the dolphins in the new Cabo Dolphin Center from the Finisterra; a "bird's eye" view. And since the Finisterra's timeshare units are sold out -- no timeshare pressure when you check in! We love it.

Great resort and very friendly staff! The resort offers seclusion when desired, but I love the fact that it is only a short walk to the heart of town. I highly recommend this over some of the higher priced resorts further away.

Resort facilities are nice, especially the pool. The rooms are old and outdated (faded bed spreads, lamp shades, carpet, etc.) and need to be refurnished. You CANNOT swim or do other water activities on this beach, it is too dangerous.

Great location on Lands End & private-quieter beach than the rest of CSL, 10 minute walk to downtown. 20 minute Walk to Lovers beach with a short hike over some natural rocky walls, the only other way to get there is by water taxi. Older than other resorts but one of the most amazing locations in all of CSL! Very friendly staff and amazing free form pools with swim up bar. One of the nicer Old Cabo places in Los Cabos!

I made reservation to stay 12/24/05 & 12/25/05 I paid in full $350.00 for the 2 nights, upon arrival we were taken to a dark, dreary room down 2 flights of stairs, no balcony a dirty window and you would have to stand to look out. We of course refused the room, if we did not upgrade we would loose the money paid because they state no refunds on cancellations. We upgraded at a cost of another $150.00 this got us a room in the main building down from the registration desk.
It was not clean, did have a balcony, all furnishing were cheap. Plastic chairs on balcony cost approx. $5.00 uncomfortable. The entire room was uncomfortable.
Due to its location it was noisy and if you ran the a/c to deaden the noise you could not have open the slider to the balcony. There was no setting on the a/c it was either on or off so you froze.
The pool area also had cheap plastic furniture. I guess they think that because it is Mexico we should just accept cheap. It was just a bad experience having just come from a week at a 5*** that did not cost as much we were depressed to say the least. We go to Cabo often and have eaten at the Finisterra and enjoyed the view seeing all the upgrades we expected upgrades in the room as well. I over heard similar complains from others. It was a real dissapointment. It felt like a bait and switch deal. Holiday or not paying almost $250.00 per night I expected more, we will never stay their again.

This resort is very conveniant to Cabo - just a 10 min walk. It is on the Pacific side and we have seen whales very often. The beach is huge and very quiet but you can not swim in the Pacific Ocean there - The resort has 3 pools and a restaurant/whale watching bar which looks out to a beautiful view.

i had reservations along with paid receipt a few years ago (christmas) and the hotel had given our room to someone else and did not find us another room. that night i was so angry as we were flying back to la that if i had had the money i would have fired the entire staff. there was no reasoning with those people. we have and never will be back no matter what.

My wife & I went here on our Honeymoon in Aug 2002. We stayed on the Palapa Beach side. The room was very nice with a great view of the pools and ocean.
In the restaurant, the food is excellent. We were treated very nice with great service.
The pools were very nice. The beach is very private and we often had it to ourselves, however, it is not safe to swim in the ocean on this side of Cabo as the under tow is very strong.
Cabo San Lucas is a great town and there was lots to do. The marina area with all the shops and restaurants is only a short 10 min walk. We enjoyed trying all the different places to eat and enjoying the life in Cabo.

This resort is Awesome!! We stayed on the marina side ..... yes it was a little dark and the furniture wasn't brand new, but the great balcony and fantistic view was worth it! You can watch the coming's and going's of the fishing boats with their daily catch, the city view after dark is beautiful, soft breeze rather than a strong one from the ocean side is heavenly, and mid-day you don't have to draw the blinds from the strong sun.
Yes, you must walk across the land bridge to get to the pools, but the stone pathway and palm trees are quaint and old world.
Both side have much to offer, but give me the marina side anytime. A shorter walk into town as well!
Helpful staff, great food, an amazing time waiting to be had!

Stayed in August 2003... Close to marina and downtown... all walking, hiking distance. Can even walk along the beach. Beach is private and away from crowds and hawkers. If adventurous enough, you can scale rocks and dodge the tide and rough waves to reach Lover's Beach on foot. Great place for couples, families, all. Concierge has lots of ideas to save money. Going back next week in December.

I like this resort a lot! It is close to the action in Cabo but on a very private beach, away from it all when we are on the beach! The best of worlds to have the quiet but still enjoy the many, many restaurants in Cabo. Great people at the Finisterra, nice clean resort and the reservations people are great.

Stayed on the Palapa side, it is very quiet with beautiful views and even on hot days had a nice breeze. The beach is free from scalpers and clean. Service was great and the food good. And for those who want to fish or shop downtown is an easy walk away.

If you stay at this resort, stay in the Palapa Beach club units. Those are newer and have an ocean view.
The older units are dark and have very outdated furniture. They are also quite a walk from the swimming pools and Palapa Bar and Restaurant.
When we went, only one of the hotel restaurants were open and the child care service was not available. No guests had been notified this upon reservation so check first before you book.
