I was at the resort July 2011. That was my second time and I'm going back again this July. I love it. It has a great kitchen, wonderful deck to BBQ on and look at the mountains. Could be a bit cleaner, furniture updated & PLEASE better TV. But if thats the bad stuff the good stuff makes up for it. It's close to Canmore for good grocery stores, places to eat & close to the gates into Banff park. Staff is wonderful & couldn't be more helpful. It was amazing to wake up one morning & have an Elk outside my bedroom window. What a thrill. To walk down the road & have deer standing beside you. Wow.

We enjoyed a great vacation at BGMR in July/August of this year with a group of ten of us coming from California, Florida, Oklahoma and UAE. The rustic feeling of the cabins, and knowing that wildlife walked on the property added even more to the vacation. The resort is not fancy. It is simple cabins that can accomodate 6 people. So we had two cabins. Overall the rating is a 4 out of 5 because there are some deferred maintaince that needs improving. But the staff is great, the location perfect for a mountain setting. On property there is a lot to do from Tennis, Basketball courts to Horseshoes and playground areas for kids. Bye the way we had 5 boys ages 9,8,5, 2, and less than one. They loved it. It is conviently located near Canmore and about 20 Minutes from Banff National Park. In addition to the outside activities they also provide movies, indoor swimming pool and a game room. It was exceptionally family friendly. If you want fancy, go to Banff Springs Hotel. If you want a great place for exploring the wonderful Canadian Rockies, you will be hard pressed to find a better location...and two hiking trails are next to the property: Spray Falls and Pigeon Mountain trails. In all we saw 32 different animals and enjoyed our time there immensely.

We were at Banff Gate Mountain Resort from August 7 thru August 14, 2009. It was a very disappointing experience. We had invited some friends along and were very embarrassed by the condition of the cabin. The furniture was really dirty and, in fact, we covered the sofa with a blanket. It was a two bedroom cabin and there were pillows on both beds, but no pillows for the sofa bed or murphy bed. We requested pillows and never did get any additional pillows. We also requested an additional blanket which we never did receive. There was a sewage odor throughout the resort which was disturbing. We would not chose to return to this resort again. The scenery and location however, were wonderful. Linda Gaines

We couldn't have asked for a nicer resort to be at because it was away from traffic and the surroundings (mountain views) were extraordinary. Facilities were very nice--chalets were private and yet close to the main lodge, pools, etc. Kitchen was fully equipped and the interior was spacious. Nice game room in the lodge, with many offerings. As a family location, this couldn't be a nicer place to be. It isn't glitzy like some of the resorts in Canmore or Banff, but that's what gives it its charm. Most, if not all, units are two-bedrooms, two baths, with fireplace units and comfortable living area furniture. A mud room/entry gives plenty of room to leave luggage, boots, hiking sticks, etc. out of the bedrooms. We'd happily return at any time.

This place is terrific. It is like going camping while taking your entire home with you. You are only 50 minutes from Calgary, 2 minutes from Canmore, and 15 minutes from Banff. You can go out and enjoy any of these areas or just kick back and enjoy the truely spectactulare view. You are 2/3 the way up the mountain and can view the entire valley. This area used to be a ski resort 40 years ago to give you an idea of where you sit on the mountain. The road up to the resort is a comfortable drive (we went in the summer). The swimming pool is huge and very, very warm. They had a few arcade games out but we really enjoyed the pool table and shuffleboard games. One day we went hiking up the area where the ski run used to be and there were millions of wild strawberries. We went into Canmore when we did not want to cook but most days we cooked in the Cabin. We went 1 day in Calgary, and 1 day in Banff. The Lake Louise hotel (the one on the lake) has an incredible buffett for Sunday brunch that surpassed any other that I have seen before (including those on cruise ships). You will have a great time.

The Cabin was in great shape. Clean, tidy, well repaired. Our family of 5 was very comfortable.

Clean & great relaxation surroundings with an abundance of close amenities.

Calgary Stampede in July for 10 days.

Banff so close with great shopping and Skiing.

New Management has made the world of difference to this property.

Location is very nice, secluded, and quiet, but this property has been neglected for a while and has a long way to go now that proper managers have taken over. Having a car is *essential*, though, as this resort is not close to anything (which is why it's quiet and secluded)! On-site amenities are OK & getting better as they have time to improve - same with the chalets. If you like to be near the action or spend time at a resort's own restaurant/lounge, this isn't the place for you, but it's a nice location for day trips around the area.

Love it!!! It's beautiful!!! All totally private chalets!! Very close to skiing and tourist attractions. Used to be called Alpine Resort Haven, but is now a totally new entity, with NO relation to Alpine Resort!!!
