Just got back from week there that included Labor Day weekend. I was there scouting out to buy. This is not a 5 star resort. It is like a city and you have to drive everywhere. Who builds a resort in the hot desert and does not install ceiling fans in the rooms or on the furnace-like balconies and terraces? Very dopey.
The 2 main pools were so crowded you could not get near them. A quiet pool at the end of the complex was ...quiet. I own Marriott and Hilton tiimeshares so I am a Marriott fan, but the furniture was not comfortable, no flat screen TV and becuase of the cubby-holed alcove design for the TV they would have to reconstruct the area to ever put in flat panels. People were very nice at the resort but service was very spotty. THe AC rattled and even after they sent an engineer to fix it, he left a voice mail saying he didn't find a problem. No toilet paper other than 1 half roll. They finally got us more, after we called, but it took almost 2 hours.
We did not eat at the Faldo restaurant, but it seemed very expensive for a golf course grill. We love Palm Desert and go every year, but the Marriott's are not on our revisit list. The place was just not well designed or maintained for anything more than a 3.5 star rating in my opinion, and from what we learned from others, the Desert Villas is worse. Well, that is my unbiased opinion of the place.

January 2008 - Resort and facilities MUCH improved. Our villa was completely redone/updated. Much nicer than the original furnishings. Golf was fabulous, food delicious, everything perfect! Can't wait to go back next year.

Just completed our third stay in the past 2 years, each in a 1 bedroom unit. Rooms are spacious, clean, nicely decorated, kitchen well furnished, convenient washer dryer, adequate parking, luggage carts, large pools, nice view of golf course and mountains.
Downside we found: A/C too drafty, water slide designed by liability lawyers, pool area could use some visual improvements, after arrival housekeeping rates a C+.
It's always been good but just a little short of great. This time the fridge didn't work right, last time we had a bad odor and found a dead rat in the fireplace.
But we would go back for a reasonable price, experience telling us to expect an enjoyable but less than perfect resort.

This is the first time we have used our timeshare and it was fabulous! We have 3 year old twins and our two bedroom unit worked out great. Enough room for everyone! The decor is very nice and comfortable and the view from our balcony was great! The kids had a blast at the pool with the slide and the play splash area. Service and amenities are wonderful.

just returned from a week here. we bought last year on a 3 day trip and brought the 3 kids with us this time. Perfect weather, beautiful resort, pool with waterslide for the kids and great kids rec room. The only down side was the pools closing down every time a kid pooped in it, which was everyday for 3 days, one day being the 2 main pools. We did complain, and were compensated but it was a big problem for all who were there. They did get a handle on it, just in time for memorial weekend. overall, it was a good vacation and we will be back.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom unit Jan.2007. the grounds are nicely kept and landscaped. the units have GREAT furniture and are nicely decorated. the people at the front desk are helpful and responsive. the units are pretty new, so the beds and couches are comfortable and in great shape. they are furnished with dishwashing liquid, sponges, paper towels, dishwasher soap, and coffee filters. they will replace your used towels upon request and supposed to do a midweek clean. Our TV sound had problems when using the DVD player which they tried to fix, but it never did work right. The only major problem with these units (especially compared to the desert springs villas) is the poor quality construction. ie:doors not hung properly, sound proofing non existent. You can actually hear your neighbors using they bathroom, and TV's playing in the next room. Other than that, it's great!!!

Wonderful Resort! Down side was chipping paint, a work out room that needs to be expanded (long wait to use treadmills, etc.) & noisy neighbors (needed better sound proof in ceiling). Up Side: Great room, comfy beds, 3 pools, rec room for kids, basketball, volleyball, and golf and tennis lessons for a minimal fee. We had a great time in our two bedroom and plan on going back soon.

We just came home from an absolutely gorgeous week at Shadow Ridge. The resort location is truly one of the most beautiful spots I have ever been in, includling Hawaii. Marriott has done a wonderful job with the resort and they are not done yet. Even though the resort is only 4 years old, they are making improvements and still buildling villas. We loved it so much we purchased a week. If serenity is on your vacation "musts" then this is the resort for you.

This resort, when finished, is going to be even larger than Desert Springs Villas. It is gorgeous! Units are very nice, only two years new and very spacious. Golf course is very challenging and the restaurant is fabulous.

Had the opportunity to take a tour of this resort while staying at Desert Springs II. The resort is still under construction, but is open for guests. The units are not as large as Desert Springs, but they are brand new and very nicely decorated. The pool looked wonderful as well as the golf course. This will be a nice place to stay once completed.

Very nicely designed and decorated units with a great view of a beautiful golf course and the mountains. Also has a huge pool area that is very nice. As with most Marriott properties, service is excellent
