We are owners and this stay, January 2009 was possibly the best ever. Check-in was
smooth, maintenance is excellent, service is superb. This is about our 4th stay at this
resort; each time they are building new and more luxurious units! This is the first time
we did not obtain an ocean view unit., but all was not lost, as we had an 2 -BR end unit,
where thedeck, with plunge pool, wrapped around and gave us a view of the ocean and
sunset....while we listened to the modified sales pitch we did not upgrade to their
latest ( as yet unbuilt) offering. We did enjoy their two restaurants, plus snack bars and
linear pool. While we had wineglasses in our room (this has been a source of contention
in the past), we got minimal cooking implements (one large not very sharp knife, a
spoon, spatula and corkscrew.) and of course. no dishwasher. We confined our meals in
the room to breakfast and light lunches, and one in-room dining service, which was
excellent.
Our real enjoyment of this trip was due to our excellent driver/tour guide whom we had
met two years ago and again contacted on the Internet. Benjamin Alarcon took us to a
number of interesting places, including a small privately owned turtle reserve, and Tres
Palos, where we were able to rent a boat and have a one-hour ride to see birds in the
mangrove area where this river meets the sea. He then arranged for a wonderful
seafood meal on the beach at sunset in a small but excellent restaurant nearby. This
was the highlight and happened on our last day. A fitting end to an excellent week.
Should you want to contact Benjamin, please let us know and we will provide follow up
information. We found him extremely reliable, and our knowledge of Mexico, past and
present, was greatly enhanced.
We highly recommend the trip to Taxco as well, in spite of it being an all-day trip.
Benjamin has contacts there as well, and it is worth it to wait til there to buy silver. The
town itself is an interesting step back into history. The Cathedral is not to be missed.
