Near Sandy Bay on the island of Roatan in the Bay Islands/Caribbean Honduras, this small but cozy resort of 23 cabana style units blends in with the abundant local flora to create a natural environment. All the cabanas are just a two minute walk to a sandy beach.

On site swimming pool, grill, bar, internet access (in office) and a private dock/sun deck make relaxing convenient. Easy access to the water via steps at end of dock makes for a short swim to the reef, which is part of the Roatan Marine Sanctuary. Snorkeling, scuba diving, and boat access to fishing and diving charters for the explorer in you.

As an owner here, I would like to state that the pool is usually usable but requires repairs (as all pools do) and during that period mentioned in a previous post it was drained and being resurfaced. With that said, the resort sits right on the beach of the Caribbean with some of the best diving in the world, why go to the pool? The Sundancer resort is in a very quiet setting with the charm of the old Caribbean with great reef diving or snorkeling right off the a very nice dock. This is not a cookie cutter vacation. Please look at the pictures of the units as they tell the story, rustic but comfortable. This website shows the google earth location and some good pictures www.thebeachshack.com
If you want the kind of resort where people wait on you, pack your luggage, bring you cocktails, etc, this is not for you. If you like solitude, friendly locals, cracking open a book as you sit all alone on the dock, or a midnight swim in the Caribbean, yet only being 3 miles from the tourist spot of West End then this safe, quaint resort is for you.

this is a nice community with very limited offerings. the pool is not useable, but the beach and nearby reef is fantastic! our unit was rustic at best. we enjoyed the island - very reasonable.
