joev26: I ditto the recommendation for the Royal Haciendas in Playa del Carmen of the Royal Resorts group. We own 2 weeks at the Royal Sands in Cancun and 2 weeks at the Haciendas. (Owners for 8 yars, visitors for nine years). We bought at the Haciendas sight unseen, never having gone to Playa before. We knew and trusted in the quality of the Royal's construction and reputation from our Sands ownership. The Royal Sands is a top rated resort in the world (according to tug2, an independent group). We were at the Sands through Hurricane Emily -- the resort endured absolutely no damage other than the pools were temporarily a sand pit. We stayed at the Haciendas this past November.
