If he is advertising a reserved week you like, don't haggle long. Hawaii is hard to get. If he is advertising a floating week, see if he can actually get a confirmation for a date you can use. Don't delay. Remember that owners have paid to buy these weeks and are still paying maintenence fees and taxes every year. Don't try to scam THEM.I have been to many time share presentations and then I found this site. I want to rent a timeshare in Hawaii for next August 2008 but after reading some of the horror stories about being scammed and such I am not sure I what to do. I do not know how it all works. If for example i want to go to Hawaii in August 2008 and I find a rental on Redweeks that I am interested in, do I contact the owner and negotiate the rental amount. If we agree to the price, does the owner than make a reservation in my name or how does all of this work. I am sure this material is on this site but I have yet to find it. Please be patient if I am asking a question in the wrong section.
A confused potential buyer and renter.

The problem you may run into at this date is that owners may not be able to get a confirmation for a date over a year away. But if they can, aloha!
