Sent out many messages and as been told, I low balled the request. I would negotiate from there but there are mid 20 - 30 floating times available at two resorts I am interested in. I made sure that the offer to rent was above what the normal maintance fees were and hopefully I get a hit back. It has only been a few days since I sent them out.....heres hoping

I don't know if you are going by what I stated to Heidips about making offers to buy! When you say you were told to low-ball then negotiate I hope you didn't take this from my post!

What I said was my friend list his offer to rent in mass e-mail for his price and he doesn't negotiate later. He states his offer and that he will except best deal that comes in within a number of days and that is it!

Dale offers fair price for the unit and sticks to it and if he doesn't get that unit he moves on! I have only seen this happen one time and it was top resort in Las Vegas during some holiday and he went to his second choice!

Some owners price their units fair but many price way to high and he wouldn't bother mailing them anyway! He doesn't waste his time trying to explain to a greedy owner or one that is clueless so all his e-mails showing his interest in renting a week at their resort goes to owners that have fair price listed.

Few years ago we stayed at the Westin in Maui and he offered fair price but not going to pay a greedy owner their rate!

The old saying you get what you pay for is true and since Dale only stays in Five Star resorts he isn't trying to steal a vacation but pay fair price!

Most owners that you try and low-ball will tell you where you put your offer. Dale gives good offer and this is why his family has nice vacations each year.He has many of these owners tell him they would make same deal when he wants to come back so he has also treated them right!

Forget low-balling just to start negotiating with some owner because you will lose!

Just pick owners that have the resort and week you want and send e-mail with fair price range you are willing to pay and wait and if nothing in couple days pick another resort you like and do same thing or different week that you would like!

You want to be nice about this and just make the offer that you have interest in their resort and their week and leave it on the table few days and not tick owners off because they will just delete your e-mail!

Be honest and state that this e-mail was sent to all the above addresses that have this week and size unit you want. State you will rent in couple days from owner with best price and thank them for their time! The whole point of doing this is to save money, get the resort and week you want.

John,I wanted to add to this post ! This type of dealing is for a short time listings!

Your not going to get a owner in Maui or most resorts in Hawaii to work with you in June 2008. There is just to much time left and they will most likely rent at their price or close to it if its a top rated resort!

Start vacation dealing with the owners when they are down to 45-60 days and then they get nervous and now just want someone to make a offer! I would say for June 2008 you start mid April 2008. Also make sure you get a flight for your week! It would be rough to work a great deal and then sit home because you couldn't get a flight!

Remember if you want to go on vacation at your price then this will work. If you like to plan ahead then you should look at the ads on here and other sites and make deal now if your going to Hawaii 2008.

SORRY IF IT WAS MY POST YOU MISUNDERSTOOD!

One sees quite a few folks on RedWishes pleading for resort spots when they already have non-refundable air tickets. They usually want Christmas or some other high value week for pocket change. If they have waited too long, of course, all the money in the world may not be enough to get the date they need. There was/is a fellow getting married in Mexico who was only able to get mid-week air tickets. To the best of my knowledge, Full weeks all start on the weekends. And he is offering $200. This is likely to be a short marriage. MD
