We DID purchase travel insurance that Redweek recommended. The problem is the small print says it only covers a natural disaster for 30 days from the disaster (declared on Aug 10). Our reservation is for Sept 16.... so we are 6 days past the 30 days so it does Not cover our booking!! We highly expected booking thru a verified company and with back up insurance we would be safe. NOT the case. .......So unless the owner cancels the booking we are stuck! Either lose our money or go to an area where we are not wanted, (and its unimaginable to vacation there among the hurting community) ........Most of West Maui is closed and the government and people are asking visitors not to come to West Maui until October....... The Hyatt Residence Club has sent emails pleading with owners to cancel or change the reservations. I understand the Hyatt RC is closed thru Sept 14th and not accepting bookings from owners until after Oct. 31st. What do we do if our owner does not allow us to cancel? ......Please, Please Please help us! E. S.
