Don't expect anyone to come to your rescue.
It took many years, but I was able to get rid of around ten timeshare weeks that had become useless. No one helped, but I'm like a yippy little dog that grabs your pants cuff and won't let go.
That's the attitude you need.
We now own just two weeks, for reasons other than timesharing.
A major shortcoming of timeshare (among the many major shortcomings) is that eventually every owner will not want or need it as much as they did, or thought they did, when they bought it . . . regardless of how smart they were buying it.
The industry has been slow to respond to that, but that issue began to show itself around 20 years ago.
If a resort is truly of value, they're best served by taking weeks back, and making them productive. If they won't take a week back, it speaks volumes as to what their real value is. I lobbied the board of a resort where we own three weeks, and after several years they took back our one remaining week. They could easily rent it out for more than the annual fee.
