They never sell....they quote sales prices that are lies....they quote that they are able to give tours of resorts they are not.
Unfortunately, the vulnerable are the people that don't realize their $30K timeshare has depreciated to 1/10th it's value and when they hear someone state they will get them $30K at sale, they get suckered in and pay the $500. They still have a $3000 timeshare and now are out $500 effectively lowering the price to $2500 net.
It's pretty easy to figure out the value of your timeshare....look at others and yours will sell near the bottom of current listings. Same as regular real estate. Look at prices and that is what yours is worth. If the resort isn't a dust bucket that hasn't been updated in a bad location, you can keep lowering the price and it should move.
It's all a crock....don't sell through them.
Except for the fact that timeshare is NOT real estate, so it is NOT the same. It's a week you own with 51 other people out of the year, not an actual tangible piece of property. You cannot paint the walls of your timeshare unit, but you can paint the walls of your house. Therefor, it is not sold the same way as real estate. How many resorts have you passed with 52 for sale signs outside of them from owners trying to sell their week?
And the scams that you are referring to, don't change their name, they close their doors completely and find a different product to sell entirely. Those are refferred to as "fly-by-night" companies. IBD-Marketing has been in business and kept the same name for approx. 6 years now. To see truth to these facts, go to www.sunbiz.org, and do an entity search for Integrated Business Dynamics. We are the first one on the list. This is also helpful for ANY businesses located in florida that you are unsure of, as they provide information such as address changes, name changes, etc. on all FL corporations.
