If you paid $1000 upfront for such services then, yeah, it is a fraudulent company and a scam. Asking them to refund your money on a message board like this will accomplish nothing (other than allowing you to vent).

Again, your best bet now is to file a complaint with the Attorney-General of the state in which the scammer is located. If it is Florida, you stand a good chance because the Florida AG is taking action against such scammers.
