If you people spent as much time researching why not to buy a timeshare in the first place instead of all the time you spend ********, you wouldn't have all these "problems" . When you thought you were gaming the system in the first place by going on your so called free mini-vacation only to come away now owning a timeshare you can't get rid of does not evoke much sympathy from me.

If you're speaking to me, I don't need your sympathy ...... I am here to educate people about the timeshare industry and especially about upfront fee resale scams. We once owned 9 timeshare weeks, all but one bought on the resale market, and I sold all 9 myself on internet sites such as Redweek and others when we got tired of continuing rising maintenance fees and special assessments .... plus we made a lifestyle change and moved to the mountains of N.C. where several of the timeshares we owned were located and we had no need for them anymore.

I will have to say that we would never have had the chance to see the many beautiful areas of this great country had we not been into timesharing, but we sold BEFORE the economy went south .... we weren't asking much as we didn't pay much on the resale market.

I feel for those now that can't get rid of their unwanted timeshare due to this awful economy, but I'm here mainly to warn people about the many scams in the industry and especially about upfront fee resale scams and Postcard Company scams that you pay $3500 - $4500 (equivalent to several years' maintneance fees) to have the timeshare supposedly taken out of your name. The problem is that some (not all) postcard companies never transfer the ownership out of your name.

As far as Ken goes, he owns in high demand, low supply southwest Florida and he could sell his timeshares to snowbirds in a NY minute for what he paid for them, proving that not all timeshares are worthless.
