Actually,RCI seems to have taken a page from the way RedWeek tried to handle exchanges. As I understand it, RCI now assigns a number value to each property/size/season deposited. If the value of your deposit, for example, is 9 and you reserve an 8 you "keep the change": 1 in this case. If you deposit your 9 again next year but want a 10, you can use your balance on hand to get it. We can no longer luck out and get a 2BR for a Studio now and then, but neither will we have to give a 2BR when only a Studio is available to us in the wanted location. Fair enough.
There are many other features which do not seem to be identical for all resort chains. We own with Wyndham and Bluegreen which seem to have negotiated somewhat different deals. Therefore, it is best to investigate through your own resort to be sure you understand how RCI will now work for you. Which setup is "best" for you may vary, depending on your needs at the moment! MD
