If an owner wants a check. Contact the management office of the place you are renting. Verify the owner's name, and give them the address you are supposed to mail the check to, so that you can confirm it is the correct address. Ask if their dues are paid in full, and if they do infact have the ability to rent. Then, Ask if they have to purchase a "Be My Guest Certificate" or what the procedure is for you as a renter.
