Sarahj72,

Just login to the website at www.hgvc.com and use the on-line reservation system to pick where and when you want to go and make your reservation if you have enough points for the stay. Your points will exprire at the end of the year if you do not use them. You have an option before than to rescue the points, that is push them to next year for a fee. You have an option to do an RCI search and exchange as well, but you must call them for that.

A great feature of the Hilton program is with one call to their 800 number you can make all the arrangements including RCI exchanges. Call the 800 number and tell them when you want to go, where, how many nights, how many people (size), and based on your points they will give you the available options. These may include borrowing points from a future year.

Once you have learned the system you can do it online but the toll free help/reservation desk will remain available to assist and/or make the reservations.

I am an expert on the Hilton system if you have a question I can probably help you. Judi

We are going to stay at Parc Soliel in January on the promotion My question , if we buy resale points outside of Hilton, can you use them at any of the Hilton timeshares? Or do you need to use them at the home timeshare? I understand each season has a different number of points and each size unit is different. I have seen some nice deals but am unsure about how the resales go Thanks Eileen

Hi Eileen, You can use resale points at any Hilton timeshare. The only thing you don't get when you buy resale is the points do not count towards the elite club. All other benefits transfer with the transfer of membership.

Based on this thread, it appears that you would need to buy some time/points directly from Hilton to get in the system and than you could buy points on Redweek to increase your time at the HGV. If you "buy points" say 4,000/year does that carry another annual maintenance fee?

I am confused about buying a timeshare unit and "buying points."

Thank you (I did buy an alternate year unit recently from Hilton)

You don't have to buy points directly from Hilton to get into the system

What is the best way to rent my Hilton Timeshares. I am a little confused - do I make available my HGV points and let the renter select the resort & time period or do I advertise a resort - for the year sand oncle the renter selects a time period then go to Hilton to book the week?

Very Nice Hilton System.

i want to add some more via the secondary market, and not pay the silly "new" price. i would much rather pay a fraction of the price the HGV club offices are selling... but if i buy lets say in florida, and i own in las vegas, will the points combine into my account? or will they be two separate accounts

Hi Judi- I’m familiar with the reservation process for HGV but uncertain about a reserving with intent to rent thru redweek… I’m thinking we’d find a location we’d like to go but list the days on redweek but with the backup understanding that if it doesn’t rent, we’d go… Do we make the reservation in our name and if it rents, change the reservation name? Appreciate your insight. Mike

I'm not Judi...but can answer your question with a "YES"

We can't use our two HGVC timeshares as much as we'd like because we've gotten old. Can you imagine that happens! So this year we decided to rent out half our points (Breckenridge) with RedWeek. We ended up renting for less than we wanted because we (a) either didn't advertise it for rent soon enough or (b) asked too much money to begin with. Still, we were satisfied because it nearly paid for our annual dues and we still have points to use (or rent out) next year. Once it was rented, we then changed the reservation to the Renters name with HGVC Breckenridge...plus a $50 fee to do so. RedWeek will prompt you what to do if you use their services.

I think your idea of intending to rent through Redweek is good with a backup plan for you to go.

THAT sounds smart to me.

I am quite interested in buying some points on the re-sale market but read that Hilton reserves the right to review the final sales contract and at their option, they can choose to buy back the points instead of allowing the sale to go thru to the buyer. Does anyone have any experience on how often they do this or if there is kind of a “threshold” they observe where the sale is likely to conclude. Since they take up to 30 days to make their decision, I don’t want to waste mine or anyone else’s time making an offer on some points that is not likely to succeed. Hope that all makes sense. Thank you. David T.

Your inquiry makes perfect sense, but unfortunately it is virtually impossible to predict the $$ number(s) at which any developer will exercise ROFR (right of first refusal). You are certainly not the first person to be frustrated by the “mystery” of ROFR decisions by developers and the potential for wasted time and effort if / when a developer decides to exercise right of first refusal when a buyer attempts a purchase from a seller. I can only wish you luck.

I did the same thing last year. I made a reservation for a usually desirable week and it turned out it was! I rented it through Red Week. We too have "aged out" of using the timeshares we own, but we have often exchanged our points for cruises. I am going to attempt to sell this year rather than rent. I was happy that it paid the next year's dues.

I own HGVC and get 9,280 points every year. Currently I have 10,280 points with 1,000 saved from 2025. If I book a week this spring and list it on Redweek and it doesn't get rented and I don't use it, I will lose my points. Correct?
