Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares

Anyone heard of timeshare Travels

Jan 10, 2008

Has anyone heard of timeshare travels? I am trying to sell a timeshare and they claim to be at One South Ocean Boulevard, Boca Raton, FL where they offer services like having the public come in to view timeshares and they sell them there as well as advertise them. Yes, they want $899 upfron advertising fees. They claim they make their money through financing of the timeshares. They offer like dinners and stuff like that for people to view the timeshares they have. But they kept insisting they make their money on the interest of the financing to people. Can anyone help me with this company? They are on the internet under timesharetravels.net Thanks, Char

charleenm2 states in part: >> they want $899 upfront advertising fees. << ============================================ This is all you really need to know. Run away --- NOW! Where they make their money is by taking yours.

If you've never heard of them (I certainly haven't after 23+ years of timeshare ownership and experience) why would you possibly believe they can sell your timeshare?

Please don't throw your money away. If you do so anyhow, despite advance warnings, you'll have no basis on which to come back later claiming "I was scammed!"

NEVER PAY A RESALE BROKER AN UPFRONT FEE TO SELL YOUR TIMESHARE ... enough said unless you don't mind throwing money away.

Look at this logically-- They charge you $899, but "make their money through financing"? Nope, they make their money, by charging $899 per ad!! Also, think of this logically as well....They offer people dinners to "view the timeshares they have"? Do you think a resort is going to let a resale company (their direct competition) take people on tours of resorts?? Thats like saying, Here, I have a car for sale for $20000, but I'm going to let you show the car to people and you can sell it to them for only $6000.

Its scary to think about that anyone would even think for a SECOND that this was not a rip off...

I had the same offer, however, they promised me to sale our timeshare within a week for an outragous amount. That is what turned me off and decided to stay clear of them. another thin they told me was that they would take half down and the rest, they would wait until the sale.

I am informing people to avoid this trap. I am also concerned with DonateYourTimeshare. I applied to them and received a'sorry' not donatable but.....you can contact the company that handles our liquidations. I did and was immediately told that there was a need for my timeshare. I am well versed in scammed because it happened to me ONCE for 400 dollars. I politely listened to the lady telling me what you would want to hear...that they were lined up waiting to buy my condo. At the end she asked if I had any questions. I had 2. First what was this cost...LOL 1699.00 I said oh you can take that after you sell it? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LOL OK now for the killer question. I asked her to tell me what state my condo was in as she did have the name because I filled out the request. She came back with 4 locations...2 states which included the one I live in and ....2 others that do not show a location. SCAM TIME because I know for a fact it is only in one state. Any reputable company would know exactly what they are trying to sell if they had HOT buyers. This is a SCAM so do not get caught by it...NEVER pay an amount up front unless you like to burn money. Now I am concerned by the so called 'Donate' sites and how legit it is. What a curse timeshares are. I am concerned that by challenging them they will learn how to fatten the scam and people will get screwed. Pass this around if you'd like.

bobb191 inaccurately generalizes: >> What a curse timeshares are. << ======================================

Only to those who made the personal choice to pay too much money for the wrong product...

To those who do their research and homework and pay a resale market value price for a good week in a good resort in a good location, timeshares are a blessing, not a "curse". I've owned and used several weeks for well over twenty years now and they have certainly paid me back many times over in great vacations and fond memories.

As in any purchase, if you pay too much money for something worth so little that you can't even give it away later, you're unlikely to be happy with your mistake...

Read your message, was contacted by them this week. Their "pitch" for for 399.00 to sell. I bought one for 30K, they said they could get 25K for it. I'm leary, what was your outcome? Thank you, Stephen

The outcome will most likely be that they will get your $399 and, at best, put a one line listing on a website. You will never hear from them again. Do a search of the various TS websites and see how much your unit is really selling for. My guess is that it is no where near $25,000.

i have the same problem, they called me and told me they can sell my timeshare for avery good price, i payed 600 dollars upfront and i waited for them to sell my time share for almost a year until i got a call from another company selling time shares that there is a scam going around in companies selling time share in Florida and the Attorney General filed a case against them. timeshare travels got a very bad reputation and had so many complaint, i talked to somebody over the phone and told i can file a complaint against this company at BBB.com ( better business bureau) they rated this company w/ a D, (third from bottom, very bad )

Rec'd a strange call at work offering me an opportunity to Sell or Rent my timeshare at Westgate in FL. After receiving serval minutes of info of what they offered to do for me, they called out a last name that didn't belong to me. Then I asked how they got my number and that I was not Ms. Watson, but I did own at Westgate an was interested in learning more. Chris Torti got a bit upset when I told him I was not giving him my credit card number up front. He proceed to tell me that he didn't want to waste his time nor mine and that this was proceedure. I kindly told him thank you, I have no intentions of wasting your tme and to have a nice day. Persistent, he called right back, saying he had spoken to his manager and that they could fax out info out to me with regards to what we had discussed, but I received 4 paragraphs of an agreement to which I was to sign. Upon research I found this website, and of course, I'm finished.

The tours they do are not at the resorts. They do have an oceanfront showroom of sorts in Boca Raton. Whether or not anyone ever shows up I have no idea. I can confirm that they are under investigation.

Yes, I have gone through Time Share travels and have received no results. Also, I have located a company in Salt Lake City and they call themselves TimeShare Travel without the (S).Upon doing some checking they are not affiliated with the company in Boca Raton. I checked this through the BBB, as a matter of fact the BBB says that they have an (A) rating and they have had that rating for many years. They dont use giveaways and gimmicks to have you market your timeshare with them. They do have an a small and reasonable fee that you must pay them, but that is all you pay until the property is sold. They have been in business for over 25 years. The staff in the office is always friendly but utmost very professional in everything that they do.

So...how much is their "small and reasonable" fee and how much more do they want after the property is sold?

They're very convincing actors, don't bite ..... all they want is your credit card number and your upfront fee.

I hang my head in shame. I know of them because we were duped. (Not to mention that my wife keeps wagging her finger at me with the "I told you so routine") Bottom line... Listen to your spouse.

We paid the 899 fee and were told that if our timeshare was not sold in 6 months, we would get a free shoping spree. After 9 months we would get a full refuld. The salesman Mike, wooed me (again, to my shame). It's been nothing but fustration and aggrivation. Phone calls were not returned. When they finally got back to us and i persisted in demanding the refund, they sent the shopping spree. THis by the was was a total waste of your time, money and effort since you have to pay money in order to get the goods. They would be cheaper at a 99Cents store. Bottom line. RUN. RUN FAR AWAY.

So, today i intend to draft a letter to the Florida Attorney General's office. Any chance that this will succede or i will get my money back??

Probably not, but with all the the letters "supposedly" being sent to the Florida Attorney General's office, they should be looking at something.

Has anyone ever followed up with the Florida AG?

yes-stay away. they called me saying they had a buyer for my time share and would I accept $14,800 for it. I asked him at least six times: "are you sure you have a buyer and this is no scam?" "you're saying i will get money because i have been taken so many time." yes was his response. He gave me a phone number saying this is his personal number and i can call it anytime. Friday was supposed to be my closing date. I tried calling the number and it is disconnected. stay away! PAM

Hope you didn't pay them an upfront fee ??? Those are the kinds of lies they tell prospective clients and then when you give them your credit card number, they close shop and move to another phone number to start up again.
