Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares

new to renting my timeshare

Feb 02, 2010

My question is, I had someone interested in my unit and wanted proof of ownersship. Is this normal and what kind of proof should I be sharing with them. I am so new, that I dont know what to provide to them!

Yes, this is called 'due diligence' and it is normal for anyone renting from an owner to show proof of ownership .... many people try to get by with renting exchanges which is against RCI and II rules but not against Redweek rules.

Totally normal.

You could provide a copy of the deed, you could have them call the resort, you could show them your maintenance bill, etc etc

Best tho, book the reservation they want and send them a copy of the confirmation. They can call the resort and find that it's in their name.

How are financial arrangements and timetables for payment, etc., usually handled when renting from an owner to a RedWeek-generated prospect? What is a typical cancellation policy?

I fax or mail them a copy of my reservations for the year renting. This not only shows my name and adress and week I have but states owner week on it. I'm not digging out my deed to send to some strangers. I will give them phone number of resort but this also listed on my Confirmion paper work.

This also shows my acct number and reservations number.

Use a contract signed by both you and the owner that will contain all the details .... you can 'search forums' at top right hand corner for 'rental contracts'.

Does anybody use the escrow service on Redweek for rentals?
