We are looking at getting out of our Studio 1200 point Tafer residency club in Mexico. Has anyone had any luck or any advice with this? It is completely paid off and maintenance fees are current and in good standing. We just want to get rid of it and are fully aware that selling it for literally anything, is the most likely scenario. Any help with this would be appreciated!

This is probably a membership or Right-to-Use (RTU). If so, you can just end your membership by stopping any further payments and let your membership lapse. You might face a bunch of harassing and annoying collection calls and letters. You might also face a hit to your credit score and history, but that is rare in the cases of Mexican timeshares and memberships.

Just don't go paying any company, law firm, or charity money to get you out of your contract.

I am very disappointed with Tafer. What they tell you during the presentation is different from what the reality is. I bought a biannual which is supposed to allow me travel every other year. This year (2025) I am illegible to travel using my points. I was told by my sales rep that I could transfer my points to RCI which will allow me travel anywhere in the world if I do not want to go to Mexico using my points. I called them to have my points transferred to RCI and they are giving me the run around. Tafer is telling me that "we don't have enough units to exchange" "you can bank your points and use it for 2027". These People are SCAMMERS!!!. It is only January and you don't have any unit available the whole year??. PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO LURE YOU TO BUYING ANYTHING!! IT IS A SCAM!! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!! The moment you get pulled into their web that's it for you!! IT'S ALL LIES.

I have paid everything off (only pays for yearly maintenance fee) but at this point, I just want to get rid of it. Any ideas how to go about it?

You likely just have a travel club membership or a right-to-use (RTU). If that is the case, to get rid of it, you simply just have to stop making any payments. You will probably face a bunch of annoying collection calls and letters. You might (but it's rare that this happens) face a hit on your credit score or rating. But eventually, the club will just cease contacting you and then terminate your membership.

Just make sure that you do not go seeking the services and help of these companies, charities, or law firms that claim they can easily and painlessly "get rid of it" for you.
