We rent through RedWeek multiple times a year, and this was easily the worst experience we’ve had—by a wide margin.
For context: we’re a family of four traveling over spring break, and I come to Hawaii at least once a year. I’ll also say upfront—Honolulu isn’t my preferred part of the islands—but this property made it significantly worse.
The building is shockingly outdated. It looks like it hasn’t been touched in 20+ years, and not in a charming “vintage” way—just neglected. The carpet, bedding, and bathroom were all borderline unacceptable. Cracked tiles with strange stains, worn surfaces, and an overall lack of cleanliness that made you question how this qualifies as anything close to a “four diamond” resort. On top of that, there were no safety features on the windows—if you’re traveling with kids, that’s genuinely concerning.
We stayed a full week and were given one cleaning service. For a property at this price point, that’s not just disappointing—it’s absurd.
The amenities were equally bad. Everything felt overcrowded and poorly managed. Despite the wristband system, the pool area was overrun, and the water itself was frankly gross—hair, sand, and cloudy conditions. It didn’t feel maintained. Staff were noticeably unfriendly and disengaged, which only added to the overall sense that no one really cares about the guest experience here.
No poolside food or beverage service either—which is baffling. That’s basic hospitality, especially at a resort charging these rates.
The pools weren’t heated, despite temperatures being in the 70s all week. So you end up with cold, unusable pools at a time when the beaches had a brown water advisory. That’s just inexcusable. If you’re going to position yourself as a premium resort, act like one.
Onsite food was terrible—skip it entirely. Parking is $80, which feels like insult added to injury at this point.
Sleep was another issue. Loud music blasting until 11pm every night, which is especially painful if you’re dealing with time zone changes or traveling with kids. And in the morning? Good luck—almost nothing is open early.
Net: overpriced, overcrowded, poorly maintained, and badly managed. This place is a tourist trap, plain and simple. Not worth it.
