We have stayed several times at Belton Woods. It is set in peaceful woodland - there are even small deer in the locality! The lodges have very high quality furnishings - you will not be disappointed. There are a couple of lovely places to go for dinner if you don't want to eat in or use the hotel restaurant and the National Trust property directly opposite the hotel has a fantastic activity playground for kids with zip wires, fort climbing frames and other treats! We have had some lovely days out to the historic city of Lincoln with its cathedral and lovely independent shops or the cobbled streets of Stamford (where Pride and Prejudice was filmed) which has a weekly market and some great pub lunches! Each of these places is about an hour's drive. You can get to London in just over an hour so you could even fit in a West End show or a tour of the capital if you're staying long enough.
